It will begin very soon, gently at first with the scattering of paper hearts at stores and in workplaces. Then, social media posts begin- you know the ones with even more love emojis than usual-and finally, the descent into the chaos of Valentine’s will be upon us! Men, women, and children grabbing at cards and boxes of candy like their lives depended on it, people booking up every single table in the city just to say that they took their date out on the 14th February! What if I were to tell you that you could avoid the madness? Well, you can, and all you need to do is follow the guide below. Step one - stock up on supplies First off, one of the most vital things that you will need to survive the Valentine day chaos is supplies. I'm not talking about basics like freshwater and tinned food here, but the even more vital food groups of candy, cake, and chips. Yes, that right to have a successful February the 14th you will need to get ahead of the game, and stock up on Valentine’s themed candy and the like head of time. Otherwise, you could find yourself wrestling a stranger in a supermarket aisle for the last bag of red, white, and pink M&Ms, which isn't really the best way to start the holiday, is it? Step two - do something pampering The next step in avoiding the madness of Valentine's Day is to cloister yourself away and indulge in some pampering, either at home with a bubble bath, or head to your closest spa. Then, not only will you feel great and ready to take on this the most romantic of days, but you won't have to put up with the 'how many gifts I got' competition at work either! Phew! Step three - send yourself flowers Another way to get ahead of the chaos on February 14th is to remember that is nothing wrong with a little self-care and self-appreciation now and then. In fact, what better way to show how much you value you by sending yourself some Valentine's Day flowers? After all, wouldn't a dozen red roses, or a garden wrap bouquet look just as good in your apartment if you sent them as opposed to a mystery admirer? Step four - call the people you love most in life and arrange to see them Lastly, no matter what if you want to beat the madness of Valentine’s, be sure that you get to hang out with people that you love. Yes, for some of us this means dating, but for others, it will be getting together with their girlfriends and have a ladies only night. Still, others may prefer to snuggle up on the couch with a beloved pet. However, no matter what you do, be sure to plan in something that you find nourishing to your soul, and that celebrates love, romantic or otherwise. Lest you feel massacred by the madness Valentine’s Day can bring!
