This includes your ability to speak a foreign language. Language Skills If you are studying in a native english speaking country and english is not your native language, you’re going to have to show fluency. It’s not enough to just claim you can speak it either. You need proof. For that, you will be expected to take the IELTS exam. IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is the most popular exam that universities across the world to test an applicant's fluency in English. We suggest that you research how to take this test and start studying for it. If you don’t get a good grade, you won’t be able to apply as a potential candidate. Make Friends Before You Go If you know other people who are going to your chosen uni, it’s important that you try to make friends. It will be a lot easier if you have people you know before you start life over there. You may want to try and make some friends online too. By using social media networks, you’ll be able to find people who are freshers at your chosen uni. Making acquaintances is an excellent way to ensure you have a support group before you head over there. Guys Love Accents We thought we should throw this in incase you were not aware. A lot of guys adore foreign accents. They’ll be buzzing around you all the time. You’ll attract them without even trying. So, if you want some days when you aren’t getting the attention of the male sex, you might want to practice a fake accent. This isn’t as crazy as it sounds, and a lot of international students master this deception. Start Planning ASAP Our final piece of advice is to start planning your study as soon as possible. There’s a lot to think about, and you need to let universities know your plans. Your school should be able to help you with this.
