These Three Things Can Motivate You Into Fitness

So you've made the decision to embark on a fitness journey. Firstly, good for you - in today's busy world health and wellness often gets overlooked, so deciding to set time aside to become a fitter version of yourself is a positive commitment. But it's not always quite as simple as deciding you're going to get fit and then immediately springing into action. If you've lived quite an unhealthy, sedentary lifestyle for a few years now, changing all these habits is not going to be something that happens overnight. Additionally, you may find that you struggle to stay motivated once the initial 'honeymoon period' of your fitness regime has been and gone. But in order to create a real change to your lifestyle, it's something you need to stick at.

Take a look at these following tips that can give your motivation
a real pick-me-up.

Look the part
If you talk the talk, you have to walk the walk too, right? This principle can be applied to what you wear when you're exercising. Going to the gym in that same old baggy t-shirt you've had since college and your mom's old running pants is not exactly going to fill you with inspiration to really smash that HIIT session. Treat yourself to some fun, colorful and flattering active wear instead. The bright colors will lift your mood, and if you already know you look good in the gym it will motivate you to keep on setting new goals for yourself. Get a few different styles for the different types of exercise you do - for example, you might need some yoga clothing, and you may also need some stylish streamlined outfits for cardio. Designers and high street stores alike all have great ranges of sportswear these days, so you should easily be able to find something that suits you.

Stop going alone
Not getting the fitness results you want? Step back for a second and ask yourself if you really are pushing yourself enough. When we only have ourselves to answer to it can be easy to slack off and to pretend like we had a good workout, when really we didn't put in half the effort we could have done. Start going to group fitness classes or hire a personal trainer - being held accountable by others will encourage you to work much harder.

Set challenges
Going to the gym day in day out is all well and good - but if you don't really know what you are aiming for it is easy for your routine to become monotonous. Set yourself fitness challenges by signing up to apps or booking yourself onto a half-marathon. Once you've signed on the dotted line, the race is quite literally on, and you know you have something to work towards. A little bit of pressure can be healthy when it comes to working on your fitness, so sign up, pay out and start working for it!
