Most people scrutinize food to ensure a balanced diet and stay safe. But do you do the same scrutiny for the products you put on your skin?
As the largest organ of the human body, our skin tends to absorb products we put into it. The average woman uses 12 different beauty products ranging from shampoos, conditioners, cleansers, lotions, skincare products, make-up and more.

You may unknowingly be exposing yourself to harmful chemicals that could eventually reach your bloodstream.
There are many reasons to use natural or organic products.

Here Are the Top Five Reasons you Should Know About.

Natural Products Are Safer
Nature has always been a source of nutrients and energy that are extremely beneficial to our health. Using organic ingredients for our skin is only natural.
Compared to chemical or synthetic ingredients, natural ingredients in skincare products are safer.

Anything you apply to your skin will slowly be absorbed by the bloodstream. This can then have many effects on your body and health. If they have healthy ingredients, then they'll have positive effects. However, if they have chemicals and too many parabens, it could cause complications in the body.
Stores stock different types of natural products, from organic soap, natural shampoo and conditioner, to chemical-free skincare products. Not only will you look better, but you'll also feel so much better, too.

They're Good for the Environment
Organic farming reduces the use of synthetic chemicals. These all have detrimental effects on our soil, water, and health. So, using natural and organic products is generally better for the environment as you're reducing waste and recycling. It's a win-win situation.

Companies Don't Test on Animals
Animal testing violates animal rights. It causes pain and suffering to creatures being experimented on. Companies tend to test on a range of animals from monkeys, rats, birds to endangered ones like marmosets. Animal testing beings pain, neglect, and death, which should not be the cost of health and beauty.

They're Less Harsh on the Skin
When using synthetic products and chemicals, yourisk up to 60 percent of those chemicals entering your bloodstream. This will build up and complications may occur in the long run.

One of the biggest issues people encounter with synthetic products is that they can be harmful to some skin types. There are ingredients and chemicals that can cause redness, itchiness, and swelling, so it's better to be safe and avoid them.
If you care about animals and you're for humane treatment of animals, then organic products are better as they will keep you from contributing to hurtful and deadly practices.

They're Full of Nutrients
Ingredients between synthetic and natural products are very different. You'll notice that synthetic products use many lab-made ingredients like triclosan, petrolatum, and parabens. They work as intended, but there will be risks and can cause issues to the body.

With natural products, you're getting natural ingredients, like argan, moringa, marula oil, jojoba oil, lemon and seamoss (or Irish moss). Companies are actively discovering more organic sources, like a variety of fermented tea to make more effective formulas for us to use.

You're getting vitamins and minerals that will help your skin look its best and will benefit your body long term.

Ingredients to Avoid in Your Skincare Products
As a consumer, you have to be responsible and do your own research. Always check the ingredients on the label when buying any skincare products.
Here are some chemicals and contaminantsto avoid:
  • Benzophenone. A chemical linked to cancer and is commonly used in cosmetics.
  • Carcinogens. These cancer-causing chemicals are legally allowed in some products but you should know to avoid it.
  • Butylated Hydroxyanisol. This preservative can cause endocrine disruption and organ-system toxicity.
  • Parabens. This preservative is popular in a variety of skincare products. It's easily absorbed through the skin, digestive system, and bloodstream which can cause endocrine-related problems.
  • Titanium Dioxide. This is an inhalable ingredient included in loose powders and is considered a possible carcinogen.
