Healing doesn't happen over night. Sometimes we think we have moved past something, but it creeps in eventually. Then you realize you're far from moving past that experience/event/heartache you went through. This is more normal than you think -ignoring something that needs healing or thinking you got over it miraculously. Truth is, most of us are carrying old pains and don't realize how much it's actually affecting us. Because we have been successful at ignoring it for so long, we find ourselves tired, depressed, and at a loss for energy, for moving forward. At this point, there is no other option but to look at your life and examine it. Examine yourself, your emotions... how are you feeling? Why? What happened? When? Are you ok with what happened? Why? Answer these questions truthfully to yourself. You can use a piece of paper, your notes app, even record it in your voice memos. Address these emotions. Take time to reflect on it. What can you do? In my experience, I have found the first thing you need is rest. Get some rest. Sleep. Give yourself permission to skip drowning yourself in piles of work. Rest. When you feel rested, ask yourself these questions again or for the first time. If you find yourself having trouble answering these questions and finding solutions, it might be time to reach out for a little help. And let me say, counseling is something we should all be into. No matter the age, race, where you come from. Allow yourself the opportunity to heal. To really heal. And hey, closing your eyes and pressing your palms agains each other also helps. Pray for guidance. You can and will heal from this experience/event/heartache you went through. You are capable of healing. You are worthy of healing. You are capable of peace. You are worthy of peace. You are capable of joy. You are worthy of joy. You can and you will. by Jessica G Ferrer
