Spring is all about floaty dresses and florals right? Wrong! This is the season to make a statement, and if the spring catwalks have taught us anything it's that we should go big and bold this year. Forget everything you thought you knew about springtime dressing and be prepared to embrace individuality this season. Here’s how to work some of the boldest catwalk trends into your look…Hair If there was one trend that truly rebelled this season it was hair. We’re used to seeing beachy waves, salt-spritzed curls, and surfer vibes in spring. This year, however, the catwalks took a completely new approach. One of the most interesting looks was the grungy take on 70’s style. Alexander Wang and Roberto Cavalli both sent their models down the runway with choppy 70’s style hair. Complete with short fringes, these girls looked edgy and fun. Recreate this rebellious look by adding some mousse to build texture. A slightly worn in (read: greasy!) look is perfect. Use a tong to get some messy waves too. Mimi Wade went even further with the 70’s look, giving her girls yellow fringes. The wet look was also huge on the catwalks. Various shows including Christian Siriano and Julien Macdonald championed this trend. Wear your wet look hair loose and tousled, sleek and slicked back, or in a low ponytail. Use hair oil to achieve this look. Clothes Stripes are replacing florals as the trademark look of spring. Stripes were absolutely everywhere in the catwalk, skirts, shirts, tops, and trench coats were all adorned with stripes. Blue and white and red and white were the main color combinations that we saw. Wear your stripes right in an off the shoulder top or a waistcoat style jacket. Khaki was another surprisingly popular trend to pop up. From street style to formal wear, it graced shows like Carolina Herrera and Yeezy. Keep your looking utilitarian by wearing an oversized jacket. Alternatively, try a shirt dress in khaki for a lighter take on this look. Swimwear is keeping us guessing this season too Although it isn’t quite summer yet we’re already seeing some swimwear styles emerge. It turns out were all fed up with traditional bikinis. Check out vilebrequin swimwear if you want to make an impact at the beach. Beauty Spring is the start of the warmer months, and, traditionally, we’ve been told it’s time to start paring back our makeup routine. Well, this year it seems we’re having none of it. The biggest beauty trend to emerge was a bright red bold lip. It accessorized every outfit perfectly and is the perfect pop of color we need!
