Booking a romantic weekend away is perfect for spending quality time with your partner. If you have a special anniversary on the horizon, a birthday or just want to get away for the fun of it, get planning and make your time as special as possible!

Part of the thrill of going on a romantic break is planning it. It may be tempting to book the break as a surprise for your other half, but sometimes the element of surprise doesn’t quite live up to expectations. You will both have different ideas of what comprises a romantic break. One of you may like camping in the wilderness whilst the other person's idea of a romantic break may be booking into a luxury hotel complete with Fast Taxi service! A compromise may be necessary.

Here are some tips to help you plan the perfect romantic break away.

Choose your destination
There are some cities in the world which are classed as being classically romantic. paris, Rome and New York offer the ultimate in romantic surroundings with stunning architecture and quality restaurants. However romantic as they are you run the risk of spending the whole trip sightseeing rather than spending quality time together. These destinations also get very busy. Another option would be to travel somewhere a little more remote, however you will need some focus otherwise it could become boring!

If you are considering travelling overseas, don’t forget to check your passport is in date!

Book a table     
Book a table at a restaurant for at least the first night of your stay. Popular restaurants book up early and it can be frustrating searching for a table as well as it wastes valuable time. Plan early and search for restaurant recommendations.

Perhaps you could consider afternoon tea in preference to a heavy high carbs dinner. Afternoon tea can be delicious as well as light. You want to avoid falling asleep by 9pm due to being too full!

What to pack
Packing for a romantic break can be a tricky task, imagine you are going on a hot date! You will both want to look your absolute best, but will need practical clothes during the day for whatever activities you have planned. Romantic breaks are not really geared up to travelling light, as when the sun sets you will want to pull out all the sops in the glamour stakes!

Comfortable clothes, especially shoes will be essential during the day. During the evening you could opt for a classic black dress and glam it up with heels and accessories. You could potentially create a couple of different outfits from your black dress, if you adopt clever accessorising. Pashminas are useful for adding a splash of colour.

Don’t forget lingerie and nightwear, the more sensual the better! Lots of silk and lace. Also if your hotel has a swimming pool or spa you will need your swimwear.

Book a trip to the beauty salon prior to your trip for waxing, hair styling and nails. This will ensure you look and feel your absolute best!.
