How Dating Has Changed Over The Years

9/25/2019

Dating and finding a new partner decades ago was as simple as seeing someone you liked, getting to know them in whichever environment you found them in, and developing that through actual dates, such as going for meals and spending time at the cinema. The differences these days are how people initially find each other. It can be as simple as a random message via social media AKA sliding into DM’s, or a swipe on Tinder. But when you’re done searching local chat line numbers for interaction,

what other ways are there to speak to potential friends or partners?

Technology
It goes without saying that technology has made a massive difference to the dating scene. Whether it’s booking a date in a restaurant online, searching for the new person that you have just met on social media and working out exactly what they’re all about, and even if they’re already in a relationship (shocking), but the actual dating itself is generally similar. We do have a more laid-back approach to dating in 2019, however. We no longer need to get dressed up and make a considerable effort to show our potential partner what we’re all about. We are always thinking of ways to enjoy ourselves on dates, and a quick Google search will show you all the different options that are available in your area. It can be as simple as choosing an escape room, which certainly wouldn’t be an option decades ago, or finding a park nearby. One of the most significant changes to the dating scene through technology has to be that distance has been reduced significantly. Since you can speak to anybody in the whole world instantly with the use of the Internet.

Social media
Social media can have its good and bad points, with the click of a button we can find almost anything about a person if they have shared a lot online over the years. Of course, this can lead to misunderstandings and things that would have been left in the past otherwise, but it’s always good to talk to the person directly, rather than to make assumptions. Social media, however, can also bring people closer together in as much as sharing experiences and making sure that we stay connected, which can always be a good thing. Gone are the days where you would have to wait till the end of the day to speak to your loved ones when they get to a phone.

Options
The term there are plenty more fish in the sea really does apply these days, because most single people are using dating apps, you will find that you have many more options and people to interact with. This can be a positive or negative experience depending on the type of person you are. Years ago we would’ve been limited to the people we come across in our day-to-day lives, but with the help of apps on our phone, we have the entire population of people searching for love in our pockets.
