Are you recently engaged?

If so, we want to congratulate wholeheartedly, and we hope your wedding day is a tremendous success. That said, now the real fun begins because it is time to start planning your wedding. Your big day might still be a couple of years away, but there are things you need to do right now. Essentially, planning for a wedding is like preparing the biggest party of your life. We bet you are wondering where to even begin. Don’t worry; we’ve got the answer.

Save The Date

Your first step is to pick a date for your wedding. This might not be an easy choice, and you’ll have to decide between the different seasons. As well as this, you’ll need to choose whether you want your wedding a weekday or a weekend. Obviously, a weekend would be more preferable. However, if you book your wedding on a weekday, you might be more likely to get your dream venue and date.

Deciding between the seasons is a tricky one. You might be thinking about a Christmas wedding which on paper, does sound like a fantastic choice. Until you realise that to get a Christmas wedding, it doesn’t matter what venue you choose, you need to book well in advance. You’re also probably interested in a Christmas wedding because you want snow. Again, it sounds great, but you can get a guarantee from the weather. Unless, you are getting married in Canada. This is your only option to ensure a white wedding. Pick somewhere to get married where it always snows.

Summer is, of course, the other popular choice. There are plenty of weddings that take place in the middle of the summer season. But remember, just because you get married in summer, doesn’t mean you’ll get away with a day without rain. Particularly, if you’re getting wed in the UK.

Book A Venue

Once you know the date, you need to choose a venue. Finding a venue can be tricky unless you have always had your heart set on a place to be wed. Your first choice is to think about whether you want to get married in a church or not. You can also look at some special locations such as being wed on a beach. Or even on a boat in the middle of the ocean. It depends on how unique you want your wedding to be and how many people you want be there. Weddings have even taken place underwater so if you want to get married with the fishes, it’s a possibility. The key is to make sure you book well in advance and avoid disappointment.

Cars And Carriages

You can typically book carriages or cars nearly a year before the date of the wedding. You want to get these booking sorted early as they do tend to sell out. Particularly, around dates that are popular such as Christmas, New Year and Summer.

Let People Know

If you’ve got the date and secured the venue, you need to let people know. Particularly, if you want to make sure everyone who want there is able to attend. Announcing the date of your wedding early guarantees that people will be able to attend and change their plans accordingly. You’ll also have a nice clear number for the wedding early on, and that’s important. Especially, when it’s time to prepare for the food, the drinks and even the number of chairs you need. You can get save the date cards from Pure Invitation that look stunning and are perfect for kicking off your wedding plans.

Food And Wine

Another thing that needs to be booked and arranged early is catering. You need to make sure that you have different options for various people. Make sure that you include optional responses for special food needs on the invitations. Otherwise, you’ll have vegetarians with nothing to eat. You don’t have to think about allergies for things like the wedding cake. You will, however, need to alert guests of what’s in it, in case they can’t eat it.

It might seem like we’ve covered most of the wedding plans but actually, we haven’t. There’s plenty more you need to think about from hiring the DJ for the reception to writing your vows. It’s one of the reasons why people often spend one or two years planning a wedding. You might think it’s overkill, but you’ll be surprised how long it takes to get everything in order. Technically, you could plan a wedding in two months. But only if you’re getting married at the town hall with a reception in your backyard.
