Great Jobs For Teens Trying To Make Extra Cash

When you’re a teenager, you’ll be constantly on the lookout for ways to increase your independence. One of the easiest ways that you can do this is getting a job and relying on your own source of income. As you approach the college years, this often becomes more important because you need a job to pay for luxuries. Those late nights clubbing don’t come cheap you know. You’ll be relieved to know that there are jobs available to teens looking to make some extra cash.

Here are our top picks.

Nannying
If you love working with children, I can’t think of a better job for a teen than a nanny. You’ll probably start off babysitting but once you gain some experience, you can think about becoming a nanny. You will need some training, and I recommend looking into early childhood courses. By taking one of these courses you’ll get all the information you need on how to look after children. The basic differences between babysitting and nannying are three factors. These are pay, duration and responsibility. The good news is that once you start nannying, you’ll be getting a lot more money than you did babysitting, and you can do this between studies. You might even be able to live in the home where you nanny, saving on rent. But, it will take up a lot of your precious spare time, so it depends how much you want to make. As well as this, you’ll have more responsibility. You’ll be looking after kids for long hours sometimes overnight and you’ll have to attend to all their needs. It’s a tough job for a teen, but if you love children you might find it’s worth it.

Caregiver
Being a caregiver is different because it is a role that you can think about taking on part time. You will still need some level of training, but you can commonly build it up as you go along. You won’t need to take a whole other study course to do this. But, you will have the same level of responsibility. Providing care for the elderly or someone with a disability is a huge commitment and you must take it seriously. It’s not a job that you should see as a paycheck. Instead, you should only take it on if you are prepared to give someone the attention they need. As well as this, you must understand the people you are working with might be just as vulnerable as a child. You will have to watch out for any dangers or signs of trouble while you are providing them with care. Again, you can make money doing this but it is quite a challenge.

Blogger
If you’re looking for a simpler job, you could try blogging. The biggest issue with blogging is that you won’t make money straight away. You’ll have to guest blog first so I recommend you look at some of the blogs you’re interested in and see if they are looking for guest writers. If they are, this is one way that you can build up a following and then attract advertisers. Another issue with blogging is the commitment it takes. To be a successful blogger you need to dedicate a good portion of your day to keeping it active and updated. It’s a commitment but you can make money and you won’t have to leave your home.

I hope you have found these ideas useful. Remember, if you want a smaller low paid job, a paper route is still the classic choice. Goodluck.
