So, you’re thinking about careers? Maybe you’re done with college and wondering where to go. Or, perhaps you haven’t gone to college yet, and are wondering what subjects to take. Choosing a career is never easy, especially when you’re fresh out of education. Even so, making a wise choice now will make life easier. Have you been toying with a career involving care? Do you want to make a positive difference in someone’s life? You’ve come to the right place! A job that makes a difference is the most satisfying thing any of us can consider. Here are some options you should take note of! MEDICAL PROFESSION We’re starting with the big guns. What career makes more of a difference than one which involves saving lives? Being a doctor, or nurse can be hugely rewarding. You’ll be making a difference to hundreds of people each day. You’ll hold life in your hands. Bear in mind that you’re going to have to work long, and sometimes unsociable, hours to make this job work. Plus, you’re going to have to consider university. Whether you want to be a neonatal nurse or a heart surgeon, some training is going to be necessary. Learn about neonatal nurse education or medical school, and see whether it’s a goal you could achieve! TEACHING They may say that those who can’t, become teachers, but that’s far from the truth. Helping to shape the minds of future generations is an incredible opportunity. You’ll be working with some inspiring young people, who may teach you a thing or two as well! Again, there are qualifications involved. Decide whether you want to teach primary, secondary, or even college level. The higher up you get, the more specialised your studies are going to have to be. If you’re passionate about a subject, this could be the perfect chance to develop the skill and spread your love! SOCIAL WORKER Another option well worth your time is that of a social worker. There are many children out there who need help in their home life. There are also many children who no longer have a home life to depend on. As a social worker, you’ll become their first port of call. It’ll be your responsibility to ensure the children who have a bad start, get a better chance the second time round! Seeing an unhappy child flourish in a new family is life changing. And, it could all be down to you! CARE WORK Of course, no list of caring careers would be complete without mention of care work. Whether caring for the elderly, or disabled, there’s always need for care workers. The best part about this job is that you can make a difference, and train on the job. For the most part, care jobs don’t call for qualifications at starting level. If you’re burning to get going, this could be the route for you. You could study for qualifications on the job, and set yourself up for the future that way!
