Beauty: The Exam You Didn't Expect To Study For!

When we’re growing up, it can often seem as though there’s no end to the challenges we face. From getting good grades, to finding good friends. Not forgetting relationship trials and tribulations. It can often feel as though life is a constant struggle. And, that’s before you’ve begun to live it! When things go right, everything feels great. But, it can be hard to cope when we don’t meet our expectations, or those laid out by other people. The good news is that there’s plenty of help out there. From advice about how to do well, to forums that show you you’re not alone. Of course, some subjects are more spoken about than others. It can often be harder to get your head around the issues that aren’t spoken about so often. The main problem being that there isn’t as much help out there!

We’re going to look at a less spoken about issue, but one that can be a headache all the same: the challenge of beauty. When you first start experimenting with makeup, there’s a lot to learn. Worse, there isn’t as much help as you would probably like. In the early days, the chances are that you’ll make mistakes. Even when you’ve been using makeup for years, you’ll still make mistakes. We all look back at old photographs and wonder why we thought that clownish makeup looked good! But, when the mean girls are out to get you, those early mistakes are a lot more damaging. ​​

So, how can you experiment without embarrassing yourself? Like with anything, the more you know, the better. You may not want to do any more research right now, but it’s important you do. Visit sites like Beautyambition and watch makeup tutorials. Buy beauty magazines and read about the latest releases. Ask your friends about their makeup routines. Devour beauty knowledge like you’re studying for an exam. And, practice all the while. The best way to cement that knowledge in your mind is by doing.

That leads us nicely onto the next point. Practice makes perfect! Don’t only practice when you’re going out, either. If you’re rushing, you’re more likely to make mistakes. Pick a time when you have nothing planned. And, have fun. You can rest easy that no one’s going to see what you come up with. And, you may well hit upon the perfect look. Experiment with different products. Foundation and eyeliner form the base for most

styles, but there’s a lot more you can play around with. Decide which eyeshadows look best. Does your eyeliner look better with wings, or not? The only way to find out is to give it a go!

Finally, be kind to yourself. This is important in all walks of life, and your makeup quest is no different. There’s no way you can know everything straight away. Despite what they would have you believe, your peers don’t know what they’re doing either! You’ll find what works soon enough. For now, though, have fun!
