You never know when a special occasion could be on the horizon. It could be a last minute night out or surprise engagement, for all you know! If you’re in a relationship that is… it would be pretty weird otherwise. It’s always wise to have a new dress to hand, and a reliable pair of heels. But what about the all-important hair and makeup? 

Ensure you always have the following six items to hand, and you’ll be prepared for anything.

A neutral-coloured fascinator
For a last-minute wedding or invitation to the race, you’re going to need a great fascinator. Coloured ones are gorgeous, but for one to keep in storage, go for a neutral colour. Think white, cream or grey. A shade like this will go with any outfit, and will suit your hair no matter what you chose to do with it. Ensure it’s a good quality product, though. You don’t want to have it snapping off during the vows or the first race.

Reliable sunscreen
For this point, we’re classing any day that the sun comes out as a special occasion. After all, it is! Sunscreen is a beauty essential for both now and the future. Sunburned red skin is not attractive on anybody. Plus, the dangers you’re potentially facing when you don’t wear sun protection are huge. At the very least, wear a foundation that has an SPF in it. Plus, keep a couple of bottles of varying factors tucked away in a drawer. Just incase any invitations for St. Tropez mini-break come your way, you know...

A set of hair extensions
Long and luscious hair takes years to grow. Even once you’ve got it super long, it is then a massive hassle to keep it clean and it great condition. That’s why hair extensions are such a God-send. Clip-in hair extensions speed up the process and allow you to put them in and take them out at home. Way easier!

​Some pots of glitter
Who doesn’t love a bit of glitter? Keep a few pots of glitter in your special occasion box and you will not regret it. You can highlight your cheekbones with us, using a swipe of Vaseline as a glue. Or make a stunning eyeshadow or lipstick that will make a real talking point! 

A packet of false eyelashes 
False eyelashes add instant drama to any look. There are so many different styles and lengths out there these days. Go thin and long for a beautiful daytime look. Or, if you’re stepping out after dark, go thick and dark. Finish with lashings of black mascara and pair with a nude lip. Don’t forget to take some glue with you for touch ups.

If you just don’t have the time or the tools to make a great look yourself, be sure to keep the contact details of a great makeup artist close at hand. You never know when you might need them.
