Staying Stylish While At College

12/17/2015

Stressful exams aside, for a college girl who loves being stylish, one of the biggest issues is staying fashionable. The problem is that college is expensive - sometimes it can be a struggle to afford food, let alone new clothes and accessories. So when it comes to fashion, it can sometimes seem impossible to stay on trend.

Luckily, that’s not the case. If you’re smart about your spending and where you shop, even when you’re living on a small budget, you can still stay in style. You may not be able to treat yourself to every item that you want. However, by taking note of these tips, you can ensure that no matter what, you always look good.

Shop the sales
If you want to stay stylish while you study, shopping the sales is a must. To ensure that you don’t miss any sales, subscribe to your favorite stores email updates, as these will alert you to any upcoming deals. You’ll also find that sites like VoucherCloud, often have deals on that can be redeemed when shopping with certain brands.

By shopping at times when there are sales on, you’ll be able to make your money go further. No matter how small the discount is that’s on offer, take advantage of it. Even by making small savings, staying stylish will become more affordable.

Buy second-hand

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that buying clothes second-hand affects your style. As long as you buy items that are from a recent season, there’s no need to worry. The key to successful second-hand clothes shopping is being picky about what you buy. Only buy items that are made by good-quality brands and that are in good condition.

The best sites to look for clothing and accessories on are eBay and Vinted. Facebook selling sites can also be great for finding second-hand gems, so don’t forget to have a look at these. The good thing about these selling sites is that you can also use them to search for things, and ask whether anyone is selling a certain item.
Instead of gifts, ask for clothes
Whether it’s your birthday or Christmas is on the way, don’t ask for gifts, ask for clothes instead. If there are clothes or accessories that you want or need, instead of getting presents, ask for clothes or money to buy them. That way, you can buy trendy clothes online or go on a shopping spree at your local mall.

By asking to have clothes and accessories for your birthday and Christmas, you can ensure that you can keep up to date with all the newest trends. Whether you need new jeans, a new pair of shoes, or a new coat, by having clothes as a gift, you can treat yourself to whatever you need.

It might be a little harder to stay stylish while at college, as money is tighter, but it is possible.

Take note of the tips above, and you can make staying fashionable a little easier.

12/17/2015

We’ve all been there. Deadlines or exams are looming, and we send ourselves in a frenzy of nerves and worry. We pull all-nighters, and try everything we can to devour the textbooks. Here’s the truth: cramming will never work. Trying to force yourself to remember thick chunks of writing just isn’t going to happen!

We don’t want you to bomb your exams, so we’ve pulled together some of the best revision hacks out there.

Trust us, these really work. And there are no all-night library sessions in site. We can’t promise it will get rid of all the nerves, but it will make your revision period easier.

1. Speak out loud and teach your subject
When we read notes in our head, it’s not always easy to keep it in. Our brains respond much better when we read out loud. Try verbalising all your notes, and you’ll find that you capture the core concepts better. Even better, try teaching the notes to others. Get a group of students together, and teach the subject matter to each other. If that sounds a little scary, try teaching it to your teddy bears! (Sounds crazy, but it really works).

2. Walk before an exam
You can’t always get rid of those butterflies, but walking is the best way to calm the nerves. Give yourself plenty of fresh air, and breathe in deeply. Remember, the brain needs plenty of oxygen to function at full capacity. Walking will also help clear your mind of the noise and stress surrounding you. Studies have shown that walking for 20 minutes before an exam will improve results.

3. Use apps
You’re probably doing all you can to stay away from your phone to revise! But, try downloading some revision apps, and your smartphone becomes a handy tool. Take a look at the best revision apps, and see which one will work best for you. Some help you create flashcards, while others will create multiple-answer quizzes to test you. Now you’ve got a good reason to be on your phone!

4. Mental associations
One of the best memory tricks is mental association. Get creative, and make connections between tricky topics and simple memorable things. You can use a mnemonic device to help you remember a string of words. (Like ‘Every Good Boy Deserves Food’ for the musical notes on the treble clef.) Figure out what works for you, and use it.

5. Draw diagrams
Studies show that our brains respond better to pictures and images than large blocks of text. If you’re having trouble with a particular topic, break it down, and create a diagram. Your brain will store that information much more effectively.

6. Take breaks and get some sleep!
Last of all, forget the all-nighters. They’re doing you no good at all. Take lots of regular breaks, and get some sleep. Your brain needs to switch off, recharge, and re-energize. Give it time to do that, and wake up relaxed for your exam.

Good luck out there guys! With these tricks under your belt, you’ll fly through.

NO MORE WAITING OR ROAMING CHARGES, POPTALK HAS JUST MADE TALKING EASIER

JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS... New POPTALK Application AllowS Android Users to Call and Text Their Families  in Mexico and Latin America for FREE

Picture
Have you ever had to travel to see family, for work, or just a last minute issue? I have! Sometimes that traveling takes me places where roaming becomes real. So real that it creates a huge impact on my phone bill. Although, I'm sure I'm not the only one. Sometimes I have friends who I speak to on a daily basis who take off for traveling. Whether it's personal or work related, we opt to talk only via email because calling each other is not the best choice. With roaming charges, one has to truly consider the option of just waiting to talk when we get back to our normal territory. One of my good friends Katia took off for vacation and while we had much to tell each other, we waited to be on common grounds to exchange our experiences. However, this is about to change. Now there is one application that will make all those roaming charges a part of the past. No more long waits because with Poptalk, it's all just a tap away.
The people I call the most and speak to the most are my Editor in chief, Sister, Mom, Dad, and Partner (who travels a lot to out of range places where roaming charges apply so we opt to speak as little as possible), but with PopTalk you can earn credits to call everyone on your list for free. So your favorites on your phone can be more than just a list of your favorite people, but also your favorite calls. Because they're free!

Created by former Google managers, UC Berkeley graduate Victor Santos and Harvard graduate Sara Choi, both technology entrepreneurs with immigrant families, as a solution to serve underserved communities. Sara Choi shared, "From day one we created this company because we believe the ability to stay in contact with your loved ones shouldn't be a privilege just for the rich, especially when 83% of the world lives in an emerging market." Victor Santos added, "We want to help the under-served stay connected to their loved ones by being the first company to provide a completely free telecom alternative that includes calling (regardless of if you have internet), texting, and even data (through the ability to use Poptalk credits to top-up your prepaid phone)."

This application is completely free and allows to call or SMS any phone for free by simply renting their smartphone lock screens to sponsors, receiving credits daily by using their phones normally. Users can also use these credits to pay for their relatives' cellphone service and data in Latin America.

Poptalk will not limit its users as it will be available for the Android Market 4.0+ and will follow at the end of march 2016 with the iOS Market.

Many people see their faith and religion as a significant part of their lives. Some people hold them so close to their heart that they want their religion to feature in everything they do. While you can practice freely at home, you have to look for a specialized job if you want to focus on your faith as a career. There are many ways you can begin on a religious career path. They go beyond becoming a minister or another role directly involved with preaching. If you

want to teach, you could work in a religious school. If you want to do charity work, you could pick a charity with your religion's values at its foundation. Here are some of your options if you want you religion to play a part in your job.
Ministry
The first career path that likely comes to mind for anyone thinking of a religious career is becoming a minister or equivalent. Many people feel that it's their calling to spread the message of their religion and the word or their god or gods. This kind of work isn't usually just giving sermons and services. It's often an important role within a community. It requires the ability to give advice and support to anyone who needs it. Many people who want to follow this path will start off by attending Bible college, perhaps attaining a ministry degree or a degree in theology. It's also possible to be ordained online.

Faith-based Media
There are many paths you can follow if you want to work for a religious employer. If you're interested in working for the media in any way, don't let a desire for a religious career put you off. There are a number of ways you can work for a faith-based organization. You could work in publication, radio, television, and more. This opens up many career paths for you, from being a radio technician to editing a newspaper or doing PR for a television station. However, you may not always be able to find a job with a faith-based employer right away. If this is something you want to do, you'll have to be prepared to work with secular organizations too.
Religious Teaching
You might decide that you're interested in teaching either children or adults. Many faith schools ask that their staff hold the same religion. You can find elementary schools, high schools and colleges that are faith-based. If you're not interested in teaching, you could also work in an administrative role. If you're looking for an area with significant job growth, Christian pre-school teaching is on the rise. It's expected to grow faster than the average rate, so could offer great opportunities.

Counseling and Support

Many religious roles involve offering counseling and support to individuals or groups. If you want to help others, you might consider a career like this. It could be a range of roles, from school counselors and youth workers to positions in support groups for addictions and other issues.

If you want to begin a faith-based career, you have a number of options to explore. Think about what sort of work you're interested in, and see if you can apply your faith.
