Going out is the best way to let of steam, have some fun and hang out with friends but if you have ever had the agony of opening your wardrobe and having NOTHING to wear, it can quickly become a nightmare. The sensation of having nothing to wear seems to be pretty much exclusive to women. Part of the reason is that our clothes tend to have a defining quality about them so when you don’t know what to wear, it’s often because you don’t know who you want to be at that moment. Even when you are just planning a fun night out with the gals. We could get into some pretty heavy feminist debate about this right now, but instead we'll dive into some practical solutions... Start with Comfort When you are on a night out, the worst thing in the world is having to go home early because your shoes are rubbing or your dress is too tight. Starting with comfort is a much smarter option because this night is about fun not high fashion! While towering high heels look great on the catwalk, if you want to dance the night away a pair of flats or even trainers might be more appropriate. Party shoes with straps across are also a good idea as you won’t be worried about them coming off while you walk. As for clothes, choosing something that you can move around in easily is essential. Elasticated waists are no longer reserved for old people and now offer much more flexibility for you to throw some shapes on the floor. Loose tops and trouser combos are also great if you’re feeling a bit schlumpy as the fabric is more breathable. Add Accessories The highlight of any outfit is always the accessories and luckily, these are the kind of things that fit no matter how you feel. Necklaces are always easy to wear and can go with pretty much anything. You might go for a long pendant to give the impression of a plunging neckline while you are actually in a high neck tee or you could go for something little that adds a glimmer of shine to an otherwise plain outfit. In fact, silk scarves are being styled as everything from dresses to hair pieces so get a few in and wear as you wish. Style Your Hair The best thing about your hair is that there are almost endless possibilities - especially if you are willing to wear a wig! 2019 is all about having fun with your style and lots of models have shown off bright colors, intriguing braiding and all kinds of accessories too. If you feel like your outfit isn’t singing as much as it should, a bold hairstyle could be the answer, drawing all attention upwards to your face. Add a thin line of black eyeliner and some red lips and you, my friend, are good to go.

There is no denying that the world of dating is a difficult one to navigate in the current day and age. There is so much to contend with, after all. Not only do you have to deal with the social media age but it is also hard to meet people through traditional channels. In this blog post, though, we are going to shed light on two of the more serious matters in the world of dating - scams and violence. So, let’s take a look…
People will often say that the years you spend in school and college will be the best in your life. Being able to spend most days around friends, having loads of free time to do things you enjoy, and having very few stresses to deal with all make for a very easy time during these early years. While this is great for a developing brain, some people will embrace the chance to be relaxed a little too much. To help you out with this, this post will be exploring some of the best ways to take this part of your life seriously, along with some information to help you to understand why this sort of work is important to you. Education The time you spend at school is going to shape the life you have to a huge degree. Those who work hard, pay attention, and stay out of trouble during these times will usually have a much higher chance of succeeding in life, making it worth taking your education very seriously. You can find other benefits in this, though, as finishing work as early as possible will give you more time without stress to deal with. Social Life Given the chance, a lot of teenagers would rather spend a day in bed than go out with their friends. Of course, you will enjoy the social times you have, but a lot of people fail to make the most of this when they are young. Once you have a normal job, you will have far less time to spend with those you care about. This will mean having to work very hard to see one another when everyone is working. Hobbies & Interests When you have long holidays, short days, and very few projects to submit, you will have loads of time to spend on the hobbies and interests you’ve built up over the years. While taking something serious when it is designed for fun may seem counter-intuitive, it can be a great way to get more out of what you love. Using lineup cards, uniforms, and scoreboards for a sporting event will make it feel far more authentic, though this is just one example of how this can be achieved. Why Bother? It can feel like you have an unlimited span of time to rely on when you’re young, with most people wasting huge portions of this part of their life. While childhood is a long time, it is still very limited, and this makes it well worth making the most of it. Of course, along with this, it could also improve your life in the future, and this is a goal which everyone should have for themselves, no matter how old they are. With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to take on the challenge of taking your years at school just a little more seriously. A lot of people struggle with this part of life, finding it hard to know how to put everything they can into this. The idea of being a “better mom” is always a contentious topic, as parenting is such a personal thing with many different views on the best way forward. Therefore, this article isn’t prescriptive in terms of telling you what you should and shouldn’t be doing - it’s more to reassure you that you don’t need a masters in early childhood education to be a good mom, as we look at some broad principles to help you be the best mom you can be. SECURE YOUR OXYGEN MASK FIRST If you get a flight one of the first things the pilot will say in their safety briefing is to make sure you secure your own oxygen mask before helping others, including your own children. Now, this probably goes against your maternal instinct - because your job is to protect your children, no matter what… yet, you will be in a much better position to help your child attend to their mask, with yours in place. Imagine trying to first attend to your child’s masks whilst you are being starved of oxygen; it’s not going to be very efficient or effective. The same is true in life. If you aren’t taking care of your own needs, you’re going to struggle to take care of your children's needs - as you will essentially be gasping for air. This is where we see mom’s snap at their children in the supermarket. You need to ensure you are replenished and rejuvenated in order to give more of yourself to your children. Therefore, make sure you prioritize meeting your needs as well as your children’s. GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN It’s really important you keep your social life, well, social. It’s very easy to become all consumed by your children and their lives, whereby you put your life on hold and what were once fun girls nights out become replaced with mothers meetings where the sole topic of conversation relates to being a mom. Variety is important, and if you are focused solely on being a mom, you’re not going to have much variety and you are going to get bored. It’s therefore important you take the time to actually have fun with your life, outside of your child, for instance - going to a spa for the day with a few close friends, or even going for a night out on the town. The point being that you need to blow off steam and feel like an adult with a life, rather than just a mom, from time to time. KEEP ROMANCE ALIVE A lot of times, when a baby comes along, the focus of your relationship with your partner shifts from each other to your new baby. Whilst this is natural and healthy, a relationship is like a fire, in the sense that unless you keep tending to it and putting logs on the fire, it will go out. The last thing you want to end up with is a partner where there was once such intimacy and connection, but has now become more of a roommate situation. This is so common, and it’s understandable - but it doesn’t have to be the case. If you tend to the fire and keep the spark alive, you will be able to have both a loving family unit and an intimate spark between the two of you… which is also good role modelling for your children as they grow older. With the emergence of the #MeToo movement and a resurgence of the issue of equality within the workplace, you’d think it would be easier for women to succeed in more male dominated industries. However, men are now feeling more threatened than ever by the presence of confident, highly skilled and knowledgeable women with sound business acumen. It can be difficult for women to break the mould and excel within an industry that is dominated by men. No matter how exceptional a female candidate may be, a position may be offered to a lesser qualified man instead. Image Source Why is this? The people in the boardroom making the decisions are older men of a generation where maternity leave considerations and old school implicit sexism come into play. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t follow your dreams and enter the industry you wish to forge a career in. As an entrepreneur, you are more free to set up your business in whatever field you wish. With the focus on encouraging more talented and able school girls to enter the science, technology, engineering and mathematical fields of study, the tables may begin to turn within a generation. Young girls often feel sidelined and intimidated by their male counterparts. With the impetus in acknowledging female talent within these spheres, a more equitable field may begin to emerge. If you have a passion that some would deem more masculine, don’t shy away from it and embrace it. If you can tinker with an engine, change brake pads and service a car as good as any other man, then set up as a mechanic and start your car workshop. The niche you find within this industry starts with you. Female drivers are much more likely to have their MOT carried out at your garage rather than at a larger franchised and male dominated alternative. Head to One Sure Insurance, get your motor traders insurance and begin servicing those vehicles. Change begins with youth. Now is the time when female role models are heading into schools and talking about their achievements. World class female scientists, astrophysicists, and sports legends are setting foot in high schools and enthusing girls (and boys) about their achievements. Boys also need to be subject to these inspirational women, as it will be this future generation of men, that will be the ones to view women in a more equal way, giving them more equitable opportunities and closing the gender pay gap even further. Being a woman is empowering, yet within a male dominated industry, it can feel like we are still living in the 1950s. Change is generational, and the change is beginning now. If you are keen to wave goodbye to your full time job and follow your dream of becoming a freelance engineer, heading up an accountancy startup or working as a mobile car valeting service, go for it. Sure, you might raise a few (male) eyebrows, but so what? You are the change, so embrace this status and see your startup thrive. |
