Big Problems We Can Solve With Little Solutions

1/25/2016

Life has a habit of throwing things at us to see if they’ll stick.

Some call it character building. Others call it bad luck. But if you can get through the tough days, I think it does make you a better person and can even give you a sense of personal pride.

Think back on your last bad hair day. We all have them. We can fight and battle with the strands that just won’t behave, or we can tie it all back and accept that down style needs to be saved for another day. Depending how much time you have, there are several other things you can try. Washing it again and restyling with the blow dryer often cures wayward hair. If you don’t have quite that much time, try using the straightening irons to tame it into a sleeker style.

Pimples and spots can continue to cause embarrassment right through to our forties. Hormones are mostly to blame. Knowing you’re going to get one or two before your period means you can prepare to do battle. Eat well in the days just before. You might be craving those sweet, fatty things, but try to avoid them. Be really strict and careful with your cleansing routine. Have some hand sanitizer in your bag. The alcohol in it can prevent a pimple erupting while you’re out and about.

Breaking a tooth can be painful. It’s essential you see a dentist immediately if you feel like you’ve chipped something. Any toothache should be examined quickly. If a regular filling just isn’t enough, invest in dental crowns to restore your smile. Your teeth are so important to your health. You need to be able to eat well so a crown will ensure a good chewing surface. It doesn’t take long to have your crown made up, and nobody needs ever know.

Stains on your top or skirt can ruin your appearance. You have several choices, but dabbing it and rubbing the stain out isn’t one of them. You need to change your clothing. If you have spares in your bag or desk, then that’s great. If you have layered your outfit, you may be saved that way. But if you have no alternative but to buy something new, it’s worth doing it. A damp patch where you’ve made an attempt at stain removal will look just as bad as the stain.

When your smartphone runs out of battery, you can suddenly feel really cut off from the world. Work can’t get hold of you, and you never quite finished that instant message to your friend. If you don’t have a charging cable with you, don’t panic. Chances are, someone in your office has come prepared. Ideally, you should have a spare external battery in your purse. They are handy for so many devices. If you’re really stuck, head to your local phone store and grab some charge while you browse.

When things go wrong, it’s easy to have a meltdown about it. But if you can stay calm, chances are the solution will present itself. Prepare for whatever life throws at you.

The Best Surgeries to Have to Improve Your Health

1/20/2016

The are a lot of different types of plastic surgery that you can have. Some are just to look better, but a lot are to help with health issues.

Here is a breakdown of the some of the surgeries available and what they can help to cure.

Liposuction
In a sentence, this is a treatment that removes fat that is beneath the skin. It is almost sucked out and can be quite a fast procedure. This is best to have if you are suffering from obesity. It can have life changing effects! You will lose a lot of fat at once, and this can make you feel great. As a result, it can motivate you to lose more weight and to start being healthier. You will want to exercise more and eat healthily, as you won’t want to go back looking and feeling like you did. For any surgery that you choose, be sure to look up the best plastic surgeon close by to you and make lots of appointments to discuss the process.

Rhinoplasty
The common name for this is a nose job. This surgery will help your nose change and make the nostril area smaller. It could also make your nose smaller. It could turn the end of your nose up so that the gap between the end of your nose and your upper lip is smaller. A lot of people just do this because they are unhappy with their nose. It will give them a new found confidence afterwards. A lot of people forget that rhinoplasty can help a person to breathe properly through their nose. They might have had their nose broken in an accident that damaged their breathing passages or nostrils. Having this surgery and being able to breathe properly, would improve everyday life and help them when they exercise.

Breast Augmentation or Reduction
A boob job might be high on a lot of smaller breasted women’s lists. It is one of the most popular plastic surgeries to have. It is a surgery to have to improve appearance but could be needed as a result of breast cancer. Having one could impact a breast cancer survivor’s life a great deal.

You might be thinking who would ever want a breast reduction, but it is quite common. Women with large breasts can suffer from health problems. The issues they suffer are most likely to be related to their back and posture. This can cause everyday pain and be a bothersome problem. Other than using weights to build up strength, there aren’t many solutions to the problem either. A reduction in breast size will help their quality of life and stop them being in pain.

So as you can see there are health benefits to having plastic surgery. It isn’t all just about vanity. Having plastic surgery could have ongoing effects that improve your daily life if you have a health problem or ailment.

Is there a procedure that you would consider? I’d love to hear what you think about this post.

Great Ways to Enrich Your Education

1/14/2016

School is one of the ways that you can get an education and learn about the world around you. However, it isn't the only way to learn, and there are other things you can do to expand your knowledge. If you want to add to your education, you can look for other environments and activities that will enrich it. You don't need to sit in a classroom to learn. In fact, many people learn much better when they have further opportunities. You might find that you pick up things better by doing them rather than reading or listening.

Have a look at some of the experiences that could help you enrich your education.

Get Some Work Experience
Many teenagers and young people complain the school doesn't offer them life experience. It might give you book smarts, but it doesn't teach you to do your taxes. If you want something that gives you a taste of life after education, you should try to find some work experience. You might decide to get a job after school or on the weekends. It's a great way of earning some money and learning about the world of work. You might also decide to get a work experience placement in a field you're interested in. Or you could even try applying for some internships.

Volunteer
Another way to try some new experiences is to find somewhere to volunteer. Instead of working a paid job, you get to feel the joy of giving your time to charity. There are all sorts of things you can do, from working with animals to spending time with elderly people. It can be rewarding and teach you a lot. It might also help you to find a job in the future. For example, if you volunteer with children, it might help you to find a position in a nursery later on. It can also sometimes be easier to find a volunteering position than a job.

School Field Trips
Your school can also offer other experiences for you to enjoy. Going on field trips can help you to enrich your education in many ways. You might even be able to get involved with planning them. Try approaching someone at school with some school field trip ideas to see if you can play a part in organizing something. There are lots of things you could do for specific classes and more general trips. It could be something that covers lots of subjects all at once.

Extra-curricular Activities
Your school probably offers plenty of after-school clubs and activities too. If there's something you want to do that doesn't exist, you can see how to start your own club. Of course, you can also engage in these things outside of school. Look for anything you might want to learn or get involved in. It could be a course in pottery, a running club or a book club.

If you want to further your education, you have to be a self-starter and look for ways to do it. You'll be a more well-rounded person if you learn outside of the classroom.

Essential Beauty And Style Tips For Glasses Wearers

1/12/2016

So you’ve just found out that for the foreseeable future, you will need to wear glasses. It might be a big change, but don’t stress about it. When first being told that we need to wear glasses, the number one thing us girls panic about is, of course, beauty. Will our makeup look as good with glasses on?

However, there’s no need to worry, as you can look just as beautiful with glasses as you do without them. It’s just a case of adjusting how you style your hair and do your makeup to be more glasses-friendly.

To help you do that, we’ve put together a few tips:

Pick the perfect frames
Want to look and feel good in your glasses? The most important thing that you can do is choose the perfect frames. When it comes to selecting frames that you’ll love wearing and will feel confident in, there are many factors to take into account.

One of the most important of which is your face shape. If you want to look good in your glasses, you need to choose frames that complement your face. It’s also important to think about the colour and style of the frames, and whether they fit with your complexion.

Try to steer clear of bright, bold designs, as these don’t tend to work well with different outfits and looks. Instead, opt for neutral frames like these Chloe ones, which come in a range of muted shades. Whatever design you opt for, make sure to try on the frames before you buy, to see if you like how they look.

Get your makeup spot on
Once you’ve got your frames sorted, the next step is to perfect your makeup. Many glasses wearers make the mistake of overcompensating when it comes to their makeup. Don’t do this - too much makeup never looks good.

The one downside to glasses is that they can cast shadows over your face, because of this, it’s best to steer clear of dark eye makeup. Instead, use lighter shadow shades and highlighters to make your eyes look a little lighter. Any area where your glasses are making shadows, such as the inner corner of your eye, use a brightening eye pen. Or, if you don’t have one, a light shadow can work just as well for highlighting.
To help make your eyes appear bigger, use pearly-toned and neutral shadow to help lighten. Pearly colors will reflect light and because of this will make your eyes look larger.

Another thing that you need to be careful when it comes to wearing glasses is putting on too much base makeup. Thanks to the magnifying lenses of your glasses, if you wear too much makeup - concealer and foundation, you can end up looking a little cakey. That’s why, it’s best to keep your makeup light, especially around the eye area.

Style your hair beautifully
The good news is that if you’re a glasses wearer, you can pull off almost any hairstyle. It’s just a case of thinking about what works with your face shape and glasses frame design. For example, for larger glasses, a hairstyle that frames the face is best. However, for frames that are a little smaller, a shorter style or updo can work well. Often, when it comes to finding the perfect look for you, it’s a case of trial and error, so don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles. You can find some amazing hair styling tutorials on YouTube, so make sure to check these out.
So there you have it, everything that you need to know about looking and feeling great in glasses.

LET'S TALK PERIOD PAINS

1/4/2016

Have you ever had to use the bathroom
while battling
the inevitable
and always unwanted cramps?

You're not alone! Menstruation pain is something most of us know too well. While time is really the answer to alleviating the pain and discomfort, we've come up with some successful ideas to ease your pain days.
Heating Pads or Water Bottle with Hot Water
The heat sits well against your muscles. Heat is always a good idea with cramps! They have disposable heating pads  at pharmacies, but if they're too far out of reach, you can always make it yourself! Try an empty bottle (water or ketchup bottle will do) and add some hot water and place on your lower tummy.

Pillows

They are specifically helpful when pressed against your lower abdomen. We like fluffy pillows. They work best! You know when you've got cramps combined with the need of a number two (poopy time)? Water bottle (or heating pad) along with a pillow help make the experience less stressful and smoother. Plus, you can use it to rest your ahead against it while you just sit in the toilet!
Got a stack of magazines? Keep them handy because if you don't have a stool, these will come in handy while you sit in the toilet (whether or not you're in your period).
Tea
While caffeine doesn't do much good to the pain, hot tea -in particular those with chamomile and lavender- help calm your body and ease the pain. We love to add lemon and honey to sweeten it up!

Exercise
I know, who wants to exercise in pain? Many magazines say it and we've tried it. While sometimes exercise is the last thing you want, a little cardio and some abs do help! We put it to the test and found that after a few minutes into a workout, you forget about the pain. Worth a try!
Got ideas? Tell us in the comments! We'd love to hear them so we can share with the IC community.

Myths About Breaking Up You Shouldn't Believe

1/4/2016

Navigating relationships is something that no one ever learns to do perfectly. You can pick up many lessons, but you'll never be an expert. It doesn't help that there are always myths and misinformation that everyone else is more than happy to share with you. People might think that they're helping you. But in reality, they could be making things harder. They're never more content to give out what they think is good advice than when you're going through a breakup.

Watch out for some of these myths to make sure you don't end up sabotaging yourself.

You Should Never Get Back Together
Many people will tell you that once a relationship is over, it's done for good. You can never get back with someone after they break up with you or you break up with them. They will say that asking someone to take you back makes you look weak. But there are no rules when it comes to calling time on a relationship. Sometimes it's over forever, but you may just need time to think about your priorities. If you think your relationship shouldn't be over just yet, a program like the Magic of Making Up could help you to get back together. You can learn how to assess yourself and your relationship to fix things and be happier and healthier.

It's Always Someone's Fault
Whenever a couple breaks up, everyone starts to look for someone to blame. But there doesn't always have to be a victim and a wrongdoer. Sometimes you're just not compatible with each other, even if both people don't recognize it yet. You might want to analyze why the breakup occurred, but that doesn't mean deciding whose fault it is. Both of you may have played a part in the breakdown of the relationship, or no one could have done anything wrong. It's not automatically the fault of whoever initiated the breakup. Remember that no matter who did the breaking up, it means that you aren't right for each other.

Initiating the Breakup is Easier
There is a common belief that being the one to start the breakup is easier. If you're the one doing the breakup, you should get over it quicker, right? However, keep in mind that there is no evil breakup initiator and poor person being broken up with. It can be just as painful to realize that a relationship isn't working and that you have to be the one to end it. It would be crueler to carry on the relationship, knowing that it's not going to work. If you're the one to initiate the breakup, you are still allowed time to get over it.

Everyone Needs Time to Mope
If movies are to be believed, there's one way women, in particular, deal with a breakup. However, you don't have to spend days in your PJs, crying and eating ice-cream. Everyone deals with a breakup differently, so don't feel you have to do it in any one way. Find your own methods of coping and of moving on.
Don't fall for these myths when you're going through a breakup. Even though your friends are trying to help, it doesn't mean they're right.
