If you love coffee, the chances are that you're always on the lookout for new ways to enjoy it. Coffee used to be only enjoyed as a simple brew made in your drip coffee maker or even instant coffee. However, many people have now realized that there's more to coffee than what first meets the eye.

There are many ways in which you can make the perfect cup of coffee in your own home, and to do so, you're going to need some specific equipment. These six items are what will get you started on your journey toward enjoying the perfect cup of coffee every time.

Six Essential Pieces of Coffee Brewing Equipment for Your Home

1. Coffee Maker
You're going to need a way to actually brew your coffee, and this is where a great coffee maker comes in. When you buy a coffee maker, it's important that you invest in one that has the right features for your needs. For instance, if you never drink more than two cups of coffee at once, there's no need to buy a 10-cup coffee maker. However, if you want the option of having more than one cup of coffee or entertaining guests on occasion, then it is important that you get a machine that has an adequate capacity for brewing.

2. Coffee Filter
Depending on your coffee maker, you might need to invest in a coffee filter. Some machines have one built right in, while others require you to buy this separately. A paper filter is typically the most affordable option here, but if that doesn't suit your needs, then there are also reusable filters available that can be washed after each use for greater savings. Buy Hario v60 filter paper to enjoy 100% pure coffee flavor.

3. Coffee Grinder
A coffee grinder is another excellent item to invest in if you want to buy whole beans and take the time to grind them each morning before brewing your coffee. You can choose between a blade grinder or burr grinder, but it's important that you select one with plenty of settings so you can grind your beans to the consistency you need. You might even want to purchase a grinder that is adjustable so you can adjust your grind size depending on what you're using it for. In addition, a manual coffee grinder is much quieter than an electric one, so if you have close neighbors or small children who need to sleep when you wake up in the morning, this might be a better option for you.

4. Serving Carafe
This is something that people often overlook when they're making coffee, but it can have a big impact on just how good your coffee tastes. A serving carafe is just what it sounds like: a way to keep your coffee hot once it's finished brewing. Some machines include their own carafe, while others require you to purchase this separately. However, you slice it, using a carafe will give you the ability to serve and refill without having to constantly reheat your coffee or use a microwave or stovetop.

5. Milk Frother
Not everyone drinks their coffee black, which is why it's important that you consider one of the many ways in which you can add milk before making your final decision on a machine. Options range from simple frothing wands that come with your machine all the way up to full-fledged milk steaming machines that will work with just about any coffee machine. If you have a latte or cappuccino maker, then the chances are that it will hook up with your coffee machine without much trouble. Otherwise, consider buying an inexpensive frothing wand to get the job done right at home!

6. Decanter
If you love brewed coffee but are not quite ready to invest in a whole coffee-making system for your home, one excellent way to enjoy your favorite coffees all year round is by investing in a decanter. A decanter can be used to brew and store coffee right in the same container, which means you won't need to set up and clean everything each time you want a cup of Joe. Simply use the included brewer and pour your finished coffee into your decanter for easy storage.
When it comes to buying coffee brewing equipment, you should purchase what is most practical for your needs. If you know that you'll only drink up to two cups of coffee at a time, then there's no need to buy the 10-cup machine; instead, invest in something with an adequate capacity.
