Seven Inspirational Females Of 2019

7/26/2019

There are so many influencers and social media celebrities out there right now who are ruling the interweb with their positivity and power. Did you know there have been studies performed that analyze who we follow and how we are influenced by those we do? These studies can tell us why those we follow influences how we feel about ourselves, which means that we need to follow the right people. We should be filling our newsfeeds with positivity and empowerment, and if you want there to be a real difference, following some bad boss babes is going to help.

For that reason, we've put together a list of seven women you should be paying attention to in 2019.

They are inspirational, unapologetically positive, and the cream of the crop for inspiration.

Picture

Simran Randhawa
The creative magazine gal-dem is becoming more and more popular, and Simran is a big part of it. It's made of over 70 non-binary people and women of color who are bossing life. Simran is proudly reclaiming her heritage and encouraging other women to do the very same. She's a big deal and is worthy of your attention and respect, especially in a time where women in India are still being pushed down.

Anya Raza
When it comes to creativity and exploration, you want Anya Raza, the filmmaker. Anya is well known for her exploration of her heritage as a global citizen. She has previously set up several campaigns for supporting Pakistan in times of unrest and is consistently seeking space in the world to better herself. Anya's talent as a filmmaker is just one more reason to follow and be influenced by her.

Megan Crabbe
If you haven't heard of her, you're clearly not supporting the body positive movement as Megan is a leader in this. On a journey to overcome eating disorder demons, Megan strives to normalize women's bodies of all shapes and sizes. Megan works hard to shout to the health professionals and media that they should realize that there is a person with feelings beneath the figure on the outside, and her journey inspires many.
Sonny Turner
Another on the body positive movement train is Sonny Turner. She went viral when she uttered the iconic words: "We need bikini bottoms that don't give us wedgies when we walk!". Women everywhere can relate, we know. She is as real as they come, pushing aside filters and photoshop to show the world what a real human body should look like, and squashing down diet culture as a model with a "real" figure.

Sheryl Sandberg
She was once the #2 person in charge at Facebook, being the driving force of the increase in the Facebook user base by x10. If you can imagine a more inspirational businesswoman in 2019, you'll be hard pushed to find out as dedicated as Sheryl, who now writes books to inspire other women to go out and grab the world by the ....teeth.

Robyn Exton
Given that it's 2019, you'd expect the LGBTQ+ community to be able to live their lives the same way everyone else does. Well, with pink-haired warriors like Robyn, it's happening. We need more women in technology, and Robyn created a lesbian and bisexual dating app, Her. Her expertise is one talent that inspires us, and her pink hair? That's just the icing on the cake.

Elizabeth Farrell
Have you ever heard of Glacier Girl? A very different kind of superhero, Elizabeth is pushing the environmental issue the way that we need people to do so. She is campaigning hard for conversation around climate change, even though some in power don't believe in it. Our digital generation gives us insight to so many things, and yet we remain eyes closed to the whole thing. She's been in the V&A exhibition, "You Say You Want A Revolution?" and she is one for little girls everywhere to watch - never mind us grown-ups!
Women are a hot topic in the world in all sectors right now, and we need to be doing more to empower each other in business, entertainment, environmental issues, and body positivity. The more role models we follow, the more our daughters will have to look up to. We must model our own actions against those who inspire us, and when we do, we can enjoy every moment of their spotlight with them.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle in the modern world is a challenge which a lot of people fail to overcome. With work, family life, and a range of other commitments to consider, it isn’t always as simple as sitting down and thinking about your health. Instead, you need to find ways to manage this side of your life while on the go. To help you out with this, this post will be exploring a range of items which can be packed into any handbag to help with your health.

This can keep you at the top of your game, even on the hardest days.

Snacks
One of the biggest challenges busy people face is their food. It’s hard to spend time preparing healthy meals when you simply don’t have any time, and this is something which very few people consider when they are first starting out with something like this. Keeping healthy snacks at hand is a great way to avoid eating the bad stuff, with things like dried fruit being very satisfying, while still helping you to maintain the diet you want to work on. Of course, getting into the habit of choosing healthier food can also help.

Pain Reduction
There will always be those days when you don’t feel like you can work but you simply have to. Headaches, joint pain, and all sorts of other discomfort can be caused by your days at work. Products like Painbuster cream are small enough to fit into just about any bag, while giving you the resources you need to keep yourself in good shape through the day. A pack or two of tablet painkillers can also be a good idea, as this will give you the ability to combat several types of pain, without having to lose out on the protection you get from others.

First Aid
Getting injured when you’re out and about can be a real pain, making it hard to continue normally without taking some extra measures. A small first aid kit doesn’t need to be complicated, with some bandages, bandaids, and any medicines you might need forming the majority of the tools which you will use. Most places will already have a kit like this available, but you might not be at work when you suffer an injury.

Supplements
It’s not always possible to get everything you need from your food, even when you have a very healthy diet. Supplements can help with this, with multi-vitamin tablets being a great go-to for this sort of option. If you find that your diet is lacking in any given area, you could also think about carrying supplements for this, as having the right balance in your body will make even the hardest days easier to get through.

With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to get started on the work you put into keeping health in your handbag. A lot of people struggle with this sort of thing, with their bags getting filled with things which they don’t really need.

How You Can Help Others in a Librarian Career

7/19/2019

What do you think the role of your local librarian really is? You might picture them spending most of their time shelving books, but there's a lot more to their job. If you want to be a librarian, you need at least a master's degree.

You can help people in a variety of interesting ways.

Book Recommendations
One of the most fun parts of being a librarian is recommending reading materials to others. As someone who hopefully has an extensive knowledge of books and other publications, you can spend your time talking to customers about their next read.

Give Tech Help
If you're also interested in technology, you can use your skills to pass on your knowledge. Librarians need to be tech-savvy and know about everything from databases to iPhones. They can help with any technical questions or problems their customers might have.
Make Information Easier to Find
A library science degree teaches librarians how to organize and catalog materials, understand statistics, and look up information when it's needed. In your career as a librarian, you can help people to find out anything they need to know, whether it's where to find a particular book or how to file their taxes.

Teach Media Literacy
Librarians can also help people to understand how to research and read critically. They're experts at telling fake news from real news and looking at any source with a critical eye. If you want to be part of the fight against fake news, being a librarian could be for you.

Finding A Source Of Inspiration Which Works For You

It’s very rare to find two people with exactly the same work ethic. Some people find it easy to work hard when they have a goal in mind, while others will need deadlines, supervision, and someone to drive them. Some can motivate themselves, and some have to rely on others for this, but everyone needs a little bit of inspiration sometimes. To help you out with this, this post will be exploring some of the best sources for this, giving you the chance to start searching for it on your own.
Those Around You
The people around you will have achieved a lot throughout their lives, especially when they are older than you. They will have had to go through the same process you’re going through, making tough choices which will have shaped their lives. When someone has managed to go above and beyond, using them a source of inspiration is always a good idea. Not only will this show you that lofty goals are possible, but it will also give you the chance to talk about how they pushed themselves, helping you to choose the right path for yourself.

People In High Places
It’s unlikely that your goal involves creating a new field or starting work on something which others haven’t pursued in the past. This means that there will always be people in your chosen field who can be looked up to. The JinJoo Lee story, for example, could help you to push yourself to be a better musician, following in her footsteps to build a career which you will love. This works for just about any field, with business owners, celebrities, and other high-achievers being a great place to turn your attention.
Stories & Ancient Wisdom
Throughout history, humans have long talked and written about work, along with the best ways to overcome it. Religious texts, historical accounts, and other ancient wisdom can be extremely valuable when you’re going through a process like this. Life used to be much harder for those living on Earth, but this has changed over the years and the old struggles which people used to face can be applied to the ones in the modern world.

Imagination
Finally, as the last option to consider, it’s time to think about self-motivation a little bit. A lot of people struggle to be their own source of inspiration, though achieving this is usually a simple matter of using your imagination. Picturing yourself in a job you enjoy, with the benefits you need to live, or your family living an easy life is a great way to push yourself forward. Afterall, isn’t this the whole point of pursuing something greater in the first place?
Being inspired to push yourself further is something which a lot of people want from life. Of course, though, it isn’t always easy to go through this process. A lot of people make it harder for themselves, even when they don’t have to. As time goes on, you will get better at motivating and inspiring yourself, and may not need to use these sources anymore.

How To Beat Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is defined as any pain that lasts more than 12 weeks despite medication or treatment. This could include migraines, joint pain, back pain or stomach pain. Some chronic pain is incurable, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be reduced. By fighting back against such pain, you could make it more tolerable and make it easier to live a normal life again.

Here are just several ways to strike back against chronic pain.

Talk to a medical specialist
Seeing a medical specialist could help you to identify ways of reducing the pain. The likes of stomach pain and migraines may be triggered by certain foods or activities, which a specialist may be able to help you pinpoint. There may even be procedures that you can carry out to reduce pain that only a specialist may be able to recommend. For instance, a back surgeon may be able to carry out spinal treatment to help relieve back pain. Your local doctor may be able to recommend someone or you may be able to find a specialist yourself by researching online.

Try acupuncture
Acupuncture is an alternative form of treatment that many people with chronic pain find to be effective. It involves targeting pressure points and nerve endings with tiny needles. Acupuncture should always be carried out by a qualified professional.

Try herbal medicine
Prescribed and over-the-counter medicines are always worth trying, but if you need a supplement or want a break from these drugs it’s also worth trying herbal remedies. These could take the form of pills, powders or ointments. The likes of turmeric are very popular and even have some scientific backing. A lot of people have also turned to CBD in recent times for help with this. Remedy Review says that the length of time CBD stays in your system depends on how you’ve consumed it. So, you should definitely read up on this thoroughly before going down this route.

Destress
Stress is known to be a popular trigger for many forms of chronic pain. Taking steps to reduce stress in your life could also help to reduce pain. There are lots of ways to destress including meditating, listening to music, laughing and exercising.

Stay active
Physical activity is very important for combating chronic pain – and not just because it can be an effective form of stress relief. Endorphins released during exercise can also directly relieve pain, whilst physical activity can loosen muscles and reduce stiffness. Sufferers of chronic pain are often best off sticking to low impact exercises that are less likely to aggravate existing medical conditions. These include swimming, walking and yoga.

Quit unhealthy habits
Many unhealthy habits are triggers of chronic pain. Smoking can often aggravate pain by raising cortisol levels (much like stress). Overconsumption of sugar can increase inflammation. Heavy drinking meanwhile can lead to dehydration, making pain worse. Quitting these unhealthy habits could help to reduce pain, whilst also improving your general health. Even if you’re unable to give up such habits, you may still be able to see a notable difference simply by reducing your intake.

If you have a serious health issue or an injury that puts you out of work, it’s incredibly difficult to deal with. A lot of people find that they struggle financially because they’re unable to work but it’s not just about that, it’s also about the mental impact that it has. To suddenly go from working every day to not working at all is a big adjustment and a lot of people find that they feel a bit lost. But the important thing in these situations is that you learn how to deal with these big changes in the right way and focus on getting better so you can get back to normal again.

Here are some important things for you to remember
if you are out of work due to a health issue.

Claim Financial Assistance
If you are physically unable to work for some reason, the chances are, you’re entitled to some financial help. It’s important that you claim this assistance right away because it will be such a huge help when you’re trying to manage your finances. If you are out of work due to an injury and you believe that somebody else was at fault, you should consult a personal injury lawyer and see if you can make a compensation claim. If you don’t get the financial assistance that you’re entitled to, you’ll quickly burn through all of your savings and you’ll end up relying on borrowing to cover all of your living expenses. That’s never a good situation to get into because once you build up that debt, it’s incredibly hard to get out of it again and you’ll be dealing with it for a long time to come.

Maintain Good Mental Health Practices
It’s not uncommon for people to have mental health issues when they’re off work for a long period of time. People tend to feel that they’ve lost their lack of purpose and they’re not as valuable as they were when they were in work, but that isn’t the case. A lot of people use unhealthy coping mechanisms like drinking or simply denying their situation and that just makes things a lot worse. It’s important that you avoid these unhealthy behaviours and make sure that you’re always focused on managing your mental health effectively. If you feel that you are struggling, speak to a doctor right away so you can deal with the problem before it gets out of control.

Focus On Recovery
Your main focus should be on getting better and getting back into work. The most important thing is that you take the advice of your doctor and do exactly as they tell you. That means if they say you shouldn’t be too active, don’t try to push yourself. If they prescribe medication, make sure that you’re taking it. Your diet has a big role to play as well, especially if you’re healing from an injury so make sure that you’re eating nutritious foods and not just snacking on junk food.

As long as you follow these 3 simple steps, you should be able to handle the situation in the right way and get back to normal soon.

Helping Your Significant Other To Love Themselves

7/10/2019

When it comes to body confidence, we can all feel a little lacking in self esteem and pride over what we see in the mirror. And when someone you love, quite possibly more than anyone else in the world, is struggling with their self image, it’s only natural that you want to help them! But how can you do so? Without making them feel anymore self conscious or like they’re acting shallow?

Well, there’s quite a few ways you can be supportive, without being overbearing or over confident on your own part. Here’s just a couple of the most tried and tested for you to look into -you never know how they could change the relationship between you and the one you love!
Picture

Leave Little Affirmations Around
the House

We all look for affirmation from time to time, when we’re feeling self conscious about the day we just had, or when we feel down about ourselves and how we look. As their partner, you’re going to be the first person they come to for reassurance - so make sure you offer it freely and openly whenever they need it!

But go the extra mile as well. Make sure they don’t start feeling bad about asking for reassurance, and make your affirmations a normal part of day to day life. Get some post it notes and write down the way you love their smile, or that their hair looks nice today, and leave them in spots all over the house. When they find a note, it’ll certainly bring a smile to their face.

And it might seem a little weird for your partner at first, but soon enough, those little loving and encouraging post it notes will become part and parcel of your relationship. The more they’re randomly exposed to the words of love you wish they could think of for themselves, the more they’re going to believe what you’re saying!
Set Some Boundaries
Every single relationship needs to have boundaries to it, to make sure respect for each other is maintained. So if your partner is starting to hate the way they look, and you’re noticing the signs, make sure to sit them down and ask them about the mood they’re in. When you do this, in a friendly and open atmosphere, you can start to talk openly about what you need from each other in moments like these.

And that’s where boundaries come in. If your partner is feeling self conscious about being undressed around you, and it’s affecting the intimacy of your relationship, talking about means you can set rules for when physically reaching out is OK, and when it isn’t. And this simple little action can take the Sex Therapy & Counselling option off the table before you even think you might need it.
You love your significant other, and you want them to be able to love themselves, so make sure you can encourage this behavior! It’s a very important for the strength of the relationship you have.

Nowadays, mental health care has enormously improved, but further developments may further encourage the successful therapy of mental health issues more widespread among girls. Large scale studies looking to the overall population across the planet have suggested that girls might be between 20 to 40 percent more likely than men to develop a mental disease. The main factor for this? Girls have a tendency to see themselves more adversely than men - this becomes a vulnerability factor for most mental health issues.
Past research has been geared towards several elements, both harmful and protective, that affect women's psychological health. If these factors are tackled appropriately, results might be beneficial. Being able to get a better comprehension of connections between feminine anatomy and particular mental health issues could enhance how health issues are treated.

While studies suggest women might be more likely to undergo a mental health issue, not all girls are guaranteed to experience a challenge in this area and so psychological or physical health issues might be experienced in various ways. Some mental health issues commonly experienced by women are anxiety, stress, postpartum depression, postpartum psychosis, posttraumatic stress, eating disorders, borderline character, mood-related challenges, self-harming behaviours and more. Women are also more prone than men to undergo particular mental health issues.
Eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia nervosa are a possible factor among women.
Postpartum depression and psychosis are mostly felt by women, though men are reporting the encounter of baby blues or paternal postnatal depression.
Generally speaking, girls are more prone than men to undergo serious mental health issues that affect daily function. This stays true throughout all age classes.

Another significant issue unique to people born as females is that the complexity and importance of motherhood. The capacity to replicate and carry a child can bring immense satisfaction and joy, but the possibility of motherhood also provides several potential health dangers. There is also the chance that pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, and ageing have the possibility of adding to psychological challenges. These can occur when girls encounter infertility issues, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, postpartum depression or other concerns associated with sexuality and sex.

Requirements linked to perinatal mood may also have a considerable effect on a few girls. The most frequent difficulty of childbirth, certain mood issues like postpartum depression tend to affect a large proportion of new moms across the USA every year. Along with the immediate effects of postpartum depression, mental health issues can have enduring effects on both mother and child past the early years of life-threatening. A mother's psychological health can affect attachment, growth, as well as the psychological health of the child. If the child develops behavioural and psychological difficulties, this may place added pressure on the mother, so setting a cycle of struggles for the whole family. Getting the appropriate help at clinics such as Bluesky Psychology is paramount to making sure women stay stable during these enduring times. The right treatments can go a long way to avoiding a spate of problems for today’s women.

What’s Healthy To You?

7/9/2019

It’s safe to say that ‘healthy’ will mean something different to us all. And while it’s easy to think that you know how to take good care of your health, it’s often very hard to bring that about in real life.

Let’s take a look at three things that might help.

Happiness
To start with, this can seem a little odd but it’s really important for you to realize just how relevant happiness is to your health. If you are suffering mentally, stressed, or you’re always stuck in a negative cycle, it’s going to impact you significantly. However, if you can make happiness your priority, you’ll find that you can start to make waves with your health.
Physical Health
From here, you’ll find that your physical health is just so important – but what does it mean to you? Is medical health the most important thing, or how you feel in your body? Just make sure that you know what matters the most in physical health. Because it could be that you go down alternative routes to realize that you feel good in yourself, rather than turning to medicine.

Toxic-Free
But then also, it’s important for you to really think about toxicity and how it can impact your life. Whether we’re talking about your exposure to chemicals, or even the use of alcohol and cigarettes, it can all impact upon your health. But that’s not all. Because there’s also opioid abuse to be aware of.

Take a look at the infographic below to find out more about the epidemic.

Finding Someone You Trust In The World Of Medicine

7/8/2019

Trust is essential when you’re thinking about your health. When you take on suggestions and recommendations, you need to know that they are coming from the right place, and this can be difficult to achieve in the modern world. With stories of malpractice and mistakes being made by medical professionals circling the web, it makes sense that this is an area you want to work on. Of course, though, it will take more than simply signing up to your first available clinic to get the right kind of support.

To help you out with this, this post will be exploring some tips which can help you to find a doctor who you trust.

Research
This process always has to start with some research. Before you can start searching for medical professionals with the skills to help you, you will need to figure out all of the options you have. There are loads of directories around the web which can help you with this, giving you access to huge lists of local medical professionals for you to choose from. You should be looking for their experience, successes and failures, and the qualifications they have to back up their work.

The Company
While each doctor will have their own set of skills and preferences, the company they work for will usually dictate a lot of their work. You primary care doctor should come from a business which values its patients more than money, and you can often figure this out by reading reviews and focusing on the right areas. For example, if a company has a very negative history with your condition, it will probably be worth avoiding them.

Talking To Them
Trust is a very personal thing, and reading about someone’s achievements online often isn’t enough to develop this sort of relationship. Instead, you will need to talk to the doctors you have to choose from before you can decide whether or not you trust them. Whether this is by phone or in person, it will be crucial that you ask as many questions as you can to determine their trustworthiness. A lot of people ignore this step completely.

Choosing Your Doctor
While it is crucial that you choose a doctor who you trust, this doesn’t mean that making this decision is the end of the matter. You can move to another doctor whenever you like, changing your mind as you develop a proper relationship with them. There is nothing stopping you from taking this sort of action, and it can be a good way to ensure that you always getting the very best possible care.

With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to take on the challenge of finding a doctor you trust. Of course, this sort of work is very important to most people, but it will be especially crucial when you’re suffering with a long-term condition. No one should have to use a doctor who they don’t trust, and this is something you have the power to change.
