Hola Mexico Film Festival presented by DishLATINO, the largest Mexican film festival outside of Mexico, announced the winners of their first ever class of Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today – a 10-day program for emerging Hispanic filmmakers in Los Angeles, CA.

The 24 applicants selected for the program are Hispanic students based in Los Angeles, and most are current students or recent graduates from universities such as USC, UCLA, NYFA, Pitzer College and Cal Arts. In order to be considered for the program, applicants submitted videos, screenplays of their film work and a personal statement about their commitment to their heritage and culture.
Winners of the First Class of Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today include: Carlos Aguilar, Esteban Arango, Angie Aurana, Kimberly Bautista, Juan Luis Bravo, Christian Contreras, Fabian Euresti, Eloísa García, Lorena Gordon, Jonathan Francisco Infante, Silvia Lara, Sara Celeste Martin, Juan Martínez Vera, Diego Najera Martínez, Gabriela Paciel, Anthony Pérez, Jackie Pérez, Luis Sánchez, Vladimir Santos, Francisco Tejeda, Andrew Vázquez and Alan Vidali.

“It has been a highly selective process and only half of our extremely qualified applicants were chosen,” said Samuel Douek, Director of Hola Mexico Film Festival presented by DishLATINO. “Our goal for this program is to give the participants the opportunity to create strong ties within the industry and the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with industry professionals that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to do.”

The 10-day program will include screenings of the films at the Hola Mexico Film Festival presented by DishLATINO taking place May 13-22, intimate conversations with the directors and actors from the films featured at the festival, a visit to CAA to meet with their senior staff, a panel and tour visit hosted by Fox Audience Strategy and special guest talks from top leaders of the Hispanic film industry including Rodrigo Prieto, Patricia Riggen, Roberto Sneider and Ligiah Villalobos. In addition, the participants will take classes with professors from CSUN and Loyola Law School and meet with important leaders from NALIP, DGA, WGA and Pantelion Films.

The Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today program has been made possible by the East Side Arts Initiative, a grant-making program focused on supporting non-profit visual and performing arts organizations, and fostering collaborations for furthering the arts in the Greater East side, and the collaboration of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México - Los Angeles.

    "Live"

    by Jessica G Ferrer
    Think of the painted lady.
Its short lived life is colorful,

    It's bright.
    Unless interrupted, it carries on.
    It flies...

Fulfilling its one and only short lived life. "
