When a dark force threatens Ponyville and the Mane 6, a new adventure begins and friendships unleash. The Mane 6 are Twilight Sparkle (Tara Strong), Applejack (Ashleigh Ball), Rainbow Dash (also Ashleigh Ball), Pinkie Pie (Andrea Libman), Fluttershy (also Andrea Libman), and Rarity (Tabitha St. Germain). Together, they embark on an unforgettable journey beyond Equestria where they meet new friends and exciting challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship to save their home.

The film has an all-star voice cast including Zoe Saldana, Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Sia, Liev Schreiber, Michael Peña, Taye Diggs, and Uzo Aduba. The movie features original music and songs performed by Sia, Saldana, Diggs, Chenoweth and Blunt.
