Latinx Producer Jaime Aymerich Celebrates Academy Acknowledgement for Diverse Show, 'Julie and the Phantoms' with Daytime Emmys

The Netflix original series, Julie and the Phantoms was announced as the winner of three Emmy Awards including Original Song, Outstanding Multiple Camera Editing for a Drama or Daytime Fiction Program and Outstanding Costume Design. The show received 13 nominations.

“Kenny Ortega [director of the film] is such an amazing artist, an auteur. Dan Cross and David Hoge created an excellent show which culminated in this incredible acknowledgement from the Academy! The original format came from Brazilian Director, Joao Daniel Tikhomiroff, of Mixer Films. I remember having dinner in Miami with Joao and visionary, Andy Patman, celebrating the enthusiasm we all shared to bring this great story to the U.S. market. It’s the success of diverse shows like these that prove the more we are inclusive behind and in front of the camera, we will always then bring the best entertainment. We look forward to continue this work to bring more Latinx and diverse content to the U.S. market,” said executive producer Jaime Aymerich.

​His new company, CRE84U Entertainment, was co-founded with Emmy Award winner Nancy Cartwright (The Simpsons), Monica Gil (In Search of Fellini, Borrego) and Carolina Aymerich. They continue to bring the best formats and intellectual properties for television from Latin America and Europe, alongside the incredible talent they brings from Latin American creators.

​Jaime Aymerich (image left) has been in the entertainment industry for over 30 years. He was born and raised in Mexico City. His television credits include: Golden Globe-nominated Weeds, Primetime Emmy-nominated Workaholics and ​​Amazon Prime's hit Emmy-nominated series Bosch. 

His film credits include: The Last Shipproduced by Michael Bay in which he plays the role of a Mexican President, How to Be a Latin Lover with Salma Hayek, Eugenio Derbez and Raquel Welch and The Laundromat directed by Steven Soderberg opposite Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas.

Julie and the Phantoms was created and written by Dan Cross and David Hoge and directed by Kenny Ortega.
