'El Extraño Retorno de Diana Salazar,' a ViX Original Series, Begins Production in Mexico

The production of El Extraño Retorno de Diana Salazar has commenced. The adaptation is an original series coming to ViX, the world’s leading Spanish-language streaming service. This iconic story explores the fascinating world of soul mates, those loves and connections so strong that are said to be able to defy the limits of time and survive beyond life and death.

The W Studios series is executive produced by Patricio Wills and Carlos Bardasano, and is developed and written by Esther Feldman (“Isla brava,” “El dragón,” “Los ricos también lloran,” “Los exitosos Pells” [The successful Pells]) and Carlos Algara (“Isla brava,” “El dragón”).

The original production features Cassandra Sánchez-Navarro (“Cindy la regia” [Cindy of Monterrey], “Malcriados” [Spoiled], “El dragón”), Lorena Graniewicz (“Los ricos también lloran,” “Si nos dejan” [If They Let Us]), Sergio Mur (“Papá a toda madre” [Awesome Dad], “Las chicas del cable” [Cable Girls]) and Erick Chapa (“Preso No. 1” [Prisoner No. 1], “Paquita la del barrio” [Well-Sung Truths, Paquita]).

El Extraño Retorno de Diana Salazar, adapted from the 1988 hit novel starring Lucía Mendez, tells the story of the forbidden love of Leonor (Angelique) and Eduardo (Sebastián Rulli) in the 17th century, closely tied to time and taking a tragic turn with the arrival of Count Lucas de Treviño.

It is a journey to an unknown and supernatural universe where love will be the axis and its power will be put to the test again and again. A story where skepticism and the most romantic and dream love will face each other centuries later when in the present Diana (Angelique) and Mario (Sebastián Rulli) unexpectedly meet again.

Paola Toyos, Ruben Sanz, Eduardo Victoria, Ivan Tamayo, Axel Alcántara and first actors Mónica Dionne and Sergio Reynoso are also part of the cast. The series is directed by Luis Manzo and Pável Vázquez.
