'Dumb Money,' The Insane True Story of a Regular Guy Who Got Rich

An insane story that turns out to be true. It's about everyday people flipping the script on Wall Street and getting rich by turning GameStop (yes, the mall videogame store) into the world’s hottest company.  Dumb Money is the ultimate David vs. Goliath tale, following regular guy Keith Gill (Paul Dano), who starts it all by sinking his life savings into the stock and posting about it. When his social posts start blowing up, so does his life and the lives of everyone following him. As a stock tip becomes a movement, everyone gets rich – until the billionaires fight back, and both sides find their worlds turned upside down. 

The cast includes Pete Davidson, Vincent D’Onofrio, America Ferrera, Nick Offerman, Anthony Ramos, Sebastian Stan, Shailene Woodley and Seth Rogen. Directed by Craig Gillespie, written by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, based on the book â€œThe Antisocial Network” by Ben Mezrich.

This film is rated R by the Motion Picture Association for the following reasons: pervasive language, sexual material, and drug use. It will have a limited release on September 15 in cities like Los Angeles, NY, Chicago, and San Francisco, with additional markets on September 22 and nationwide on September 29.

Dumb Money premiered on September 8 at the Toronto International Film Festival and has garnered great accolades from media worldwide and, in less than 24 hours, has climbed to 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Iconic Chica mag was invited to an advanced screening of the film and while we've got a lot of positive thoughts, we'll sum them up.

A quick and upbeat film that provokes emotions you didn't even know you had in you, Dumb Money is a must-see. With a soundtrack that wraps you in, the writing feels honest and beautifully delivered by the actors. Anthony Ramos is as charming as he is funny. Shailene Woodley is warm and unforgettable. America Ferrera is authentic and shows such ease in delivering her performance. While it is undoubtedly hard work, Ferrera makes it look effortless. 

This comedy-drama opened its doors on September 15 for an exclusive release, a moderate release on September 22, and everywhere on September 29, 2023. â€‹
