Puerto Rico creates the right impact in New York City with a new space in the heart of Manhattan. This interactive space, located at the office of Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, will feature videos of destinations and adventures you can only find in the Caribbean Island.

Secretary of Economic Development & Commerce Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Alberto Bacó Bagué explained, "This location offers a great space where we can create productive ties with other markets and countries." Bagué also said that this new venture will contribute to the message that "Puerto Rico is in fact the ideal destination for the best business opportunities, investments, tourism, and entertainment."

Located on 51 street, the storefront will also serve as an exhibition area for local businesses to promote their products and services. The space (as seen in the photos) is a design by architect Warren James (from Arecibo, P.R.) and the furniture was manufactured by the Factoría in Santurce, P.R.

WHEN A HIGH-TECH JEWELRY PROMISES TO TAKE YOU BACK TO THE ONE MEMORY YOU NEED THE MOST, DO YOU TAKE THE RISK?

What happens when you are given the chance to revisit memories and forget unwanted ones? Do you take it?

Here at Iconic Chica we got a chance to get up close with co-writer and director Jose Nestor Marquez and leading lady Aja Naomi King. They told us about memories, technology, and modern sci-fi, as it all pertains to their most recent project, REVERSION. Now playing in select theaters. (Though you can definitely demand it in yours!)
Written by Elissa Matsueda and Jose Nestor Marquez, REVERSION centers on Sophie Clé (Aja Naomi King), a delighted user of the Oubli, a wisp of high-tech jewelry that wraps behind the ear and uses neuroscience to help its users experience their most joyful memories as if they were happening for the first time. In addition to being the head of marketing for the company that makes this revolutionary memory-enhancing wearable device, she is also the daughter of its inventor, Jack Clé (Colm Feore).

Sophie’s most joyful memory is the last day she saw her mother alive, fifteen years earlier. But on the eve of the Oubli’s worldwide launch, a stranger named Isa (Jeanette Samano) kidnaps Sophie, setting off a chain of events that remind us all, you can’t escape what you can’t forget.

Also starring are Gary Dourdan, Colm Feore,  Amanda Plummer, and David Clennon.

A FLAVORFUL FIRST EDITION OF LATIN AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS

10/9/2015

The first edition of the Latin American Music Awards was flavorful at its entirety. Beginning with red carpet arrivals, including the beautiful and exceptionally talented Leslie Grace (right). Humbled and excited to be there, she proved that simplicity is sometimes the best option not only in dresses, but also in personality. Definitely one of our favorite Iconic Chica's of the night!

A highly hyped crowed waited for the show to commence. Puerto Rican star and urban artist Daddy Yankee opened the show with an unforgettable performance and took home two awards, Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Song "Sigueme y te Sigo".
Winners of the Latin American Music Awards included Enrique Iglesias for Artist of the Year, Gloria Trevi with Favorite Female Artist, and Gente de Zona feat. Marc Anthony for Favorite Tropical Song "La Gozadera". The list goes on! The highlight of the night, however was the epic finale with a beautiful tribute to the forever iconic Celia Cruz. Jeimy Osorio and Modesto Lacen introduced this tribute with a bang, saying nothing but beautiful things about diversity and the impact Celia's music had in the Latin American culture.

'REVERSION' Red Carpet WORLD MOVIE PREMIERE in LOs Angeles

10/7/2015

Downtown independent was HOME TO 'REVERSION'S' WORLD PREMIERE

Looking flawless from head to toe, star Aja Naomi King walked the red carpet, all smiles with the cast. Joining her in support was her How to Get Away With Murder co-star, Jack Falahee. He shared a post on Instagram later that night saying, "SO proud of this lady! @ajanaomi_king crushed it in REVERSION. Watch out World."

Also on the red carpet, in support of Reversion, were stars like Rosie Rivera, CEO of Jenni Rivera Entertainment and LPGA Golfer, Lizette Salas. We got a chance to catch up with her and she told us about her partnership with Toyota, who also sponsored the film. "I think Toyota being part of the film in every aspect really says a lot about their company and their brand. I think that's why I wanted the partnership with them. Just because they believed in zero restrictions regardless of

your background, regardless regardless of where you come from. And to be here supporting my hispanic community, it's really important that we stick together," said Lizette. While she's been playing golf for nineteen years, Salas admits success has not been without hard work and perseverance. She told us, having positive people around to reinforce you is important. "Everything has its time. My dad has always said that everything will happen at the right moment and you have to be patient. You have to have complete faith in yourself, have the faith in the people around and know that it will happen."

Director, Jose Nestor Marquez, who also co-wrote the film shared a few words on the big night. "We already have all these doubts and concerns... There's a lot of anxiety about how it is that technology is changing the way that we interact with each other. At the same time you realize that smartphones have only been around for about five or six years, so we've got another ten, fifteen, twenty years, thirty years. That's basically the starting point of this movie, what happens as these technologies become more personal and they start to really change the way we relate to each other."

As the questions for the film arise and we begin to make assumptions on what we would or wouldn't if we had access to more technology, Reversion gives us a glimpse of what it could be, helping us ask the right questions. If you could control memories, feel memories, erase memories, would you?

Reversion opens in select theaters October 9th.

    Think of the painted lady.
Its short lived life is colorful,

    It's bright.
    Unless interrupted, it carries on.
    It flies...
