A Successful Night for '1992's' World Premiere in Los Angeles

Lionsgate celebrated the World Premiere of 1992 on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Regal DTLA in Los Angeles.

The night began with red carpet arrivals from Hollywood stars, film cast, and producers. From the film, attendees included Scott Eastwood (Pacific Rim: Uprising), Christopher A’mmanuel (“Black Lightning”), Composer, Gilad Benamram (“Fauda”), and Music Supervisor Allison Wright Clark (“The Middleman”) to name a few. Among special guests were Vin Diesel (The Fast & The Furious Franchise), Michelle Rodriguez (The Fast & The Furious Franchise), Cory Hardrict (Brotherly Love), Nafessa Williams (“Black Lightning”), and Skye Aurelia (Light Travelers). Some of the executives in attendance were JP Richards (President, Worldwide Marketing), Keri Moore (Co-President, Worldwide Marketing), and Nasim Cambron (EVP, Worldwide Publicity).

Executive Producer Snoop Dogg (Death Row) and Tyrese Gibson (The Fast & The Furious Franchise) closed the red carpet. The film was introduced by director Ariel Vromen and Tyrese Gibson, who hopes 'to make Labor Day weekend a success for 1992.'

An engaging story that is thought provoking and purposeful. The film lures you in with intimate takes on the character’s introductions and dives into the history of 1992, building its premise from there. During the premiere, the action scenes kept viewers on their toes. Audience members were engaged with the storyline and a great music selection throughout the film.

Synopsis:
In 1992, Mercer (Tyrese Gibson) is desperately trying to rebuild his life and his relationship with his son (Christopher A’mmanuel) amidst the turbulent 1992 LA uprising following the Rodney King verdict. Across town, another father and son (Ray Liotta and Scott Eastwood) put their own strained relationship to the test as they plot a dangerous heist to steal catalytic converters, which contain valuable platinum, from the factory where Mercer works. As tensions rise in Los Angeles and chaos erupts, both families reach their boiling points when they collide in this tense crime-thriller.

Prime Video Releases First Look Images and Cast for 'Pimpinero: Blood and Oil'

Prime Video released the first look images and cast for Pimpinero: Blood and Oil, directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Andrés Baiz (Griselda, Narcos, The Hidden Face).The film marks Baiz’ triumphant return to the big screen after a successful career directing global series. Pimpinero: Blood and Oil explores the powerful and universal themes of borders and family bonds, making it a must-watch for audiences around the world. The highly celebrated cast includes Alberto Guerra (Griselda), Alejandro Speitzer (La Cabeza de Joaquin Murrieta), Laura Osma (Goles en contra) and multi-award winning Grammy® artist Juanes.

The announcement comes as Pimpinero: Blood and Oil is officially selected to screen at the Toronto International Film Festival, with its World Premiere on September 9th. The movie is part of the international Centerpiece program lineup at TIFF and set to launch on Prime Video later this year.

Pimpinero: Blood and Oil is set in the desert bordering Colombia and Venezuela, where gasoline smugglers known as “pimpineros” risk their lives transporting illegal fuel from one country to another. When Juan – the youngest in a clan of three brothers entangled in this perilous trade – is forced to work for a sinister rival, the underbelly of the business is laid bare with tragic consequences. Determined to uncover the gruesome secrets that shroud this no-man’s-land, Juan’s girlfriend Diana embarks on a quest for the truth.

“We’re proud to continue being the home for talent, and our collaboration with Andi on this title speaks to the trust we’ve earned with him and other filmmakers to nurture and promote their creative vision,” said Javiera Balmaceda, Head of Latin American, Canadian and Australian Originals, Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios. “The film’s vision speaks to universal themes such as family bonds and seeking truth, which our local and global audiences can relate to.”

The film is produced by production company Dynamo. It’s written by María Camila Arias (Birds of Passage) and directed, written and produced by Andrés Baiz (Griselda, Narcos, The Hidden Face). The production team includes Andrés Calderón (La Cabeza de Joaquin Murrieta, Narcos) as a producer and Cyndi Rojas (Mile 22) as an associate producer.

'The Duel' Makes its Way to Digital and On Demand

Taking it back to the good times with a film set for pure entertainment. Here's another one for the comedy and drama seekers. The Duel will be available on Digital and On Demand August 16, 2024. Here's a quick synopsis.

Upon discovering that his best friend, Colin (Sprouse), has been having an affair with his girlfriend, Woody (Mcauliffe) decides that no modern form of revenge could possibly satisfy him. Instead, Woody challenges his closest companion to a classic contest of honor – a gentleman’s duel to the death. When two of their friends join the act, the once inseparable group of men inch closer to the day of destiny and test the bonds of their relationship until the moment of no return.

Written and directed by Justin Matthews (Upgraded, “The Morning Show”) and Luke Spencer Roberts (Upgraded), The Duel bring both comedy and drama to its audience. With actors Dylan Sprouse, Callan Mcauliffe, Denny Love, Hart Denton, María Gabriela De Faría, Rachel Matthews, Christian Mcgaffney, Ronald Guttman, and Patrick Warburton, the story was brought to life for audiences to view this August.
