Edge of your Seat Thriller Vibes in 'Fall'

A new thriller is dropping and we've got the details. Written by Scott Mann and Jonathan Frank, Fall gives you the edge of your seat vibe. After all, two friends climb 2,000 feet to be stranded with mere hope to be found. Directed by Scott Mann, the film stars Grace Caroline Currey, Virginia Gardner, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The film, produced by Christian Mercuri, James Harris, Mark Lane, and Scott Mann drops (pun intended) into theaters August 12.

For best friends Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) and Hunter (Virginia Gardner), life is all about conquering fears and pushing limits. But after they climb 2,000 feet to the top of a remote, abandoned radio tower, they find themselves stranded with no way down. Now Becky and Hunter’s expert climbing skills will be put to the ultimate test as they desperately fight to survive the elements, a lack of supplies, and vertigo-inducing heights in this adrenaline-fueled thriller costarring Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Official Selection, 'Yae: Blind Samurai Woman' to Screen at Dances with Films Festival

Now in its 25th year, Dances With Films is currently happening and among the many works of art is a one of a kind story. Akiko Izumitami’s short film Yae: Blind Samurai Woman has been announced as an Official Selection. The Japanese director's film will screen on June 13th at 4:45 p.m. at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Yae: Blind Samurai Woman takes us to 18th century Japan, where a blind woman’s father is killed by a young samurai who was avenging his own father’s death. The blind girl agrees to be escorted to the nearest village.

“I am thrilled to be able to screen Yae: Blind Samurai Woman at the L.A.’s largest film festival, Dances With Films which was named as Top 10 North American film festival by USA Today. We are eager to see audience reactions to a female samurai who is also blind but not afraid of what's in front of her. My co-writer James 'Doc' Mason and I wanted to create Seven Samurai meets Green Mile. I wanted to show how a samurai film could be made in the English language. After we made this film, we felt this story and its characters have so much potential. We wrote the pilot version and its bible for Yae: The Blind Samurai Woman limited series based on this short.” said director Izumitani.

The film stars Masa Kanome (Austin Powers, Goldmember), Yuwi Kim (The Music Box) and Nobuaki Shimamoto (Hecksaw Ridge) written by Akiko Izumitani and James “Doc” Mason.

Alliance of Women Directors (AWD) member, Akiko Izumitani is a female writer/director born and raised in Japan. Akiko first earned recognition through her feature-length documentary, Silent Shame (2010). The film won numerous awards worldwide, including Best Feature in the Beijing Movie Festival, and has a screening at an Oscar Qualified film festival. The film was sold to several territories including China and Denmark.

Akiko also directed Kung Fu Date, which won the Remi Award at the Houston Film Festival, and Sukiyaki with Love (Semi-Finalist of NBC Universal Shortcuts). Her action short film, The Other Side won The Best Short Film at Sacramento Asian Film Festivaland ECA Award by ICG and had a screening sponsored by ICG at the DGA.

While Izumitani was working for 20th Century Fox as a project manager, she also studied screenwriting, taught man-to-man by Monte Merrick (writer), and Jonathan Tsuneishi (script analyst at 20 Century Fox.)

Akiko Izumitani was selected as one of the top rising Asian American filmmakers in 2013. She is represented by Espada PR & Entertainment.

From Puerto Rican Filmmaker, Benji Lopez, 'Amor en 266 Millas' Premieres in Hollywood

I assume most, if not all, would agree that life is full of the unexpected. Despite us already knowing a change in course can strike at any moment, we're awestruck when it happens.

Marcos is too. He's diving into a new chapter in his life after a divorce, finding himself in pilot mode, and at a loss for money. In this new romantic comedy, Amor en 266 Millas (Love in 266 Miles), we follow the life of Marcos who when armed with an idea is determined to get back in touch with his dreams, to not only follow them, but to achieve them.

When his younger brother and sister-in-law plot to change his plans, he embarks with them across 266 miles in the high desert. This highlights a life-changing journey for all of them.

Guacamaya Films (Honduras/Puerto Rico), helmed by producer Mathew Kodath and director Benji Lopez announced their indie film Amor en 266 Millas is an Official Selection at the Dances with Films Festival. The world premiere of the feature film will be on Tuesday, June 16, 2022, 9:15 p.m. at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

“I am very excited for this release and to finally see the people 's reaction at the theater. Filming A266 in Los Angeles with this amazingly talented cast and crew was a unique experience.This film marks an important point in time where my life took a turn and is a very personal piece for me,” said director Benji Lopez.

Action Thriller, 'Prey' Comes to Hulu this August

The all-new action-thriller from 20th Century Studios directed by Dan Trachtenberg (The Boys, 10 Cloverfield Lane), Prey is headed our way. The newest entry in the Predator franchise, Prey will stream August 5, 2022, as a Hulu Original in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star banner in all other territories.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan, Treadstone), and produced by John Davis (Jungle Cruise, The Predator), Jhane Myers (Monsters of God), and Marty Ewing (It: Chapter Two), with Lawrence Gordon (Watchmen), Ben Rosenblatt (Snowpiercer), James E. The filmmakers were committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples. As a result, the film features a Native Comanche producer (Myers), and a cast comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nation’s talent, including Amber Midthunder (The Ice Road, Roswell, New Mexico), newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (Sooyii), Michelle Thrush (The Journey Home) and Julian Black Antelope (Tribal). The movie also stars Dane DiLiegro (American Horror Stories) as the Predator.

Prey will be available on Hulu entirely in Comanche as a language option, or with Comanche subtitles, which is the first time a feature-length movie on a direct-to-consumer streaming platform has been available in the Comanche language in its entirety.
