'EGEDA and Fundación Secuoya' Renew Alliance to Make Madrid the World’s Capital of Ibero-American Audiovisual in September 2022

​Following the international success of last year’s event, EGEDA-FIPCA and Fundación Secuoya have renewed their alliance to host the world’s largest Ibero-American audiovisual event for a second time: Iberseries Platino Industria.

By joining forces (while each still manitaining their individual identities), Iberseries and Platino Industria will deliver a world-class initiative aimed at fostering collaborative projects and international productions in Spanish and Portuguese on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as promoting and enhacing the visibility of Ibero-American films, TV series and professionals.

For a second consecutive year, Madrid will be hosting an unparallel event that will bring together the world’s most exceptional creators, producers, distributors and artists from September 27 through 30, 2022 at the Matadero Madrid. The full program will be announced shortly.

​THE INAUGURAL EDITION: A MEDIA AND ATTENDANCE SUCCESS
The event’s first edition took place in Madrid from September 27 to October 1, 2021 and had over 2000 attendees, 57 professional panelists, 786 pitches and over 100 highly-regarded figures representing leading audiovisual institutions and companies across Ibero-America. Over 300 accredited domestic and foreign journalists covered the event. 

The inaugural edition featured four intense days of activities. Among the many attendees were Oscar Award-winner fillmaker Alejandro Amenábar, American scriptwriter and TV producer Chris Brancato, Juan Ponce, of Telemundo Streamig Studios, or Miguel Salvat and Marcelo Tamburri, of WarnerMedia.
For this year’s edition, Iberseries Platino Industria has full support of the Madrid City Hall and the Community of Madrid.

Disney+ released a new trailer and key art for the original movie​. Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers. A comeback 30 years in the making, the hybrid live-action/CG animated action-comedy catches up with the former Disney Afternoon television stars in modern-day Los Angeles. ​Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers premieres May 20, 2022, exclusively on Disney+.

In ​Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different now. It has been decades since their successful television series was canceled, and Chip (voice of Mulaney) has succumbed to a life of suburban domesticity as an insurance salesman. Dale (voice of Sandberg), meanwhile, has had CGI surgery and works the nostalgia convention circuit, desperate to relive his glory days. When a former castmate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend’s life. 
 
The Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers Original Soundtrack with score by composer Brian Tyler will be released by Walt Disney Records on May 20.

Ibero-American Stars to Hit the Red Carpet at the 9th Annual PLATINO Awards for Ibero-American Cinema

​The Platino Awards for Ibero-American Cinema announced today the initial list of confirmed Ibero-American stars and artists attending the upcoming 9th gala that will feature the world’s best audiovisual works in Spanish and Portuguese.
 
The ceremony, hosted by Lali Espósito and Miguel Ángel Muñoz, will take place at the IFEMA Palacio Municipal in Madrid on May 1. Among the stars walking the red carpet will be Mexican actress Ilse Salas, nominated for Best Actress for her role in Panama’s Plaza catedral, and Spanish actress Blanca Portillo, nominated in the same category for Maixabel.
 
Other guests include Mexican actress Ana Cristina Ordóñez, nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Noche de fuego; Aitana Sánchez Gijón and Milena Smit, who starred opposite each other in Madres paralelas; and Carmen Maura, this year’s recipient of the PLATINO Honorary Award.
 
On the male’s side, confirmed guests Eduard Fernández and Luis Tosar will compete for the Best Actor award for their performances in Mediterráneo and Maixabel, respectively. Additional guests confirmed for the event are nominees Alfredo Castro (starring in Argentina’s Karnawal), Manolo Solo (starring in El buen patrón) and Urko Olazabal (starring in Maixabel), competing for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award.  
​Small screen stars confirmed for the gala include Chile’s Daniela Ramírez (Isabel), Maribel Verdú (Ana Tramel. El juego) and Argentina’s Mercedes Morán (El reino), who will be competing for the Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Series award. Mexico’s Diego Boneta (Luis Miguel. La serie) and Darío Grandinetti (Hierro), both nominated for Best Actor, will be also walking the red carpet. Mexico’s Rosa María Bianchi (Monarca), Spain’s Najwa Nimri (La casa de papel) and Nancy Dupláa (El reino) will join the event in the hopes to take home the Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Miniseries or TV Series award. Enric Auquer will walk the red carpet as a nominee for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Miniseries or TV Series award.
 
The confirmed guest list also includes Best TV Series Creator nominees Pepe Coira, creator of Hierro, and Claudia Piñeiro, in charge of Argentina’s TV production El reino. Other attendees are Fernando León de Aranoa, nominated for Best Director and Best Screenplay for El buen patrón, and Abner Benaim, who wrote and directed Plaza Catedral, and also competes for theBest Screenplay award.
 
Natalie Álvarez Mesén will arrive at the Madrid gala representing Costa Rica’s Clara Sola, nominated for Best Ibero-American Directorial Debut Fiction Film. Edson Sidonie, producer ofKarnawal, will be attending the gala alongside director Juan Pablo Félix and acrtress Mónica Lairana in the hopes to win the award. 

OTHER IBERO-AMERICAN STARS TO PRESENT THE PLATINO AWARDS

To bring this year’s edition to a spectacular close, the PLATINO Awards will be presented by renown Ibero-American personalities, including Aislinn Derbez, Ale Nones, Álvaro Morte, Amaury Nolasco, Andrea Chaparro, Antonia Zegers, Belinda, Carlos Torres, Carolina Gaitán, Carolina Ramírez, Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, Cecilia Roth, Cecilia Suárez, China Suárez or Cristina Castaño.
 
The statuettes will also be presented by Ernesto Alterio, Esmeralda Pimentel, Franco Masini, José Coronado, Juan Carlos Arciniegas, Juan Pablo Urrego, Juan Minujin, Juana Acosta, Lucía Sapena, Maggie Civantos, Omar Chaparro, Óscar Jaenada, Óscar Martínez, Paco León, Paula Echevarría, Rossy de Palma, Santiago Segura, Stephanie Cayo and Yon González.

The ceremony will be broadcast by TV networks across Ibero-America and will present the award for Best Ibero-American Fiction Film to one of the following nominees: Mexico’s Noche de fuego, by Tatiana Huezo; Spain’s Madres paralelas, by Pedro Almodóvar, El buen patrón, by Fernando León de Aranoa, or Maixabel, by Icíar Bollaín. The nominees for Best Ibero-American Fiction Miniseries/TV Series or Documentary Feature Film are Mexico’s Luis Miguel: La serie, by Daniel Krauze, and Narcos: México, by Carlo Bernard, Chris Brancato and Doug Miro; Argentina’s El reino, by Marcelo Piñeyro and Claudia Piñeiro; and Chile’s Isabel, by Rodrigo Bazaes.
 
The Platino Awards for Ibero-American Cinema are presented by EGEDA (Management Entity of Audiovisual Producers’ Rights) and FIPCA (Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers) in close collaboration with the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council. The latter two institutions are so devoted to attracting more filming projects to Madrid ––an ideal location for all types of film and TV productions–– that the region has turned into an intense activity hub generating enormous benefits to the audiovisual sector. The PLATINO Awards also has support from the World Tourism Organization and the Ibero-American Academies and Institutes of Film, unite the great talent of 23 Ibero-American countries and honor the works and best creators each year by presenting awards in 22 categories and the PLATINO Honorary Award. 
 
Ever since its launch in 2014, the Platino Awards have strived to promote Ibero-American films to ensure that success across the most prestigious film festivals leads to an outstanding theatrical run and an excellent commercial box-office performance.

'Cecilia' is Now Streaming on Paramount Plus

​​Paramount+  announced that the Spanish-language original series Cecilia will premiere on Thursday, April 14, in the U.S., the Nordics, Canada and Australia, exclusively on the service. Produced by VIS, the eight-episode series stars Mariana Treviño, Erick Hayser, Marimar Vega, Michel Brown and César Bono.
 
The series tells the story of Cecilia (Treviño), a creative, charismatic and daring woman who has transformed her parents’ bakery into a successful business through her talent and hard work. However, Cecilia’s fears and conflicts have led to a family dynamic highly dependent on her, where love has been replaced by need. Cecilia’s world seems to fall apart after her stressors cause her to suffer a stroke. What at first seems like a tragedy ends up being an opportunity for Cecilia to create an environment for those around her to develop the skills and resources they need to be self-reliant.
​The series is led by a talented international cast, which includes Erik Hayser, who plays Cecilia’s doctor, Dr. Jiménez; Michel Brown, who plays Germán, Cecilia’s second ex-husband; and Aminta Ireta and Natalia Coronado, who play Cecilia and Germán’s twins, Romi and Majo, respectively. Additionally, Germán has a son, Simón, played by Leo Deluglio, from his first marriage to Sofía, played by Mayra Batalla. Marimar Vega plays Ana, Cecilia’s younger sister; and César Bono and Lumi Cavazos play the respective roles of Don Jaime and Dulce, Cecilia and Ana’s parents and the former owners of the bakery that Cecilia now manages successfully.
 
Shot in Mexico City and based on an original idea by renowned writer and director Daniel Burman, Cecilia is written by Clara Roquet, Mónica Herrera and Burman himself; directed by Ihtzi Hurtado; and executive produced by Inna Payán. Additionally, singer Julieta Venegas wrote an original song inspired by the story for the series, appropriately titled “Cecilia.” Cecilia debuted last year in Latin America, exclusively on Paramount+.

YA series 'The Wilds' Returns to Prime Video for Season Two

Prime Video released the official trailer for the second season of the highly anticipated hit YA series The Wilds. All eight episodes of the Amazon Original series will premiere on Friday, May 6 exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The trailer gives a sneak peek at the even higher stakes the girls face as they remain trapped on a mysterious island, and a look into what has been part of the experiment all along: the boys. 
In Season Two, survival hangs in the balance for the group of teenage girls stranded on a deserted island, after the explosive discovery that what's happening to them is an elaborate social experiment. This season ups the drama and keeps you guessing, with the introduction of more test subjects—another island of teenage boys—who must also fight for survival under the watchful eye of the experiment’s puppet master.
The Wilds is created and executive produced by Sarah Streicher alongside showrunner and executive producer Amy Harris. The late Jamie Tarses of FanFare, and Dylan Clark of Dylan Clark Productions also serve as executive producers. The series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios. ​​

'The Bob’s Burgers Movie' Will Open in U.S. theaters this May

The new trailer debuted at WonderCon in Anaheim, California where it was screened for enthusiastic fans along with other footage from the film at a lively panel presentation with the filmmakers and cast.
 
​The Bob’s Burgers Movie is an animated, big-screen, musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running Emmy®-winning series.
The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob's Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family's restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong.
 
The Bob's Burger's Movie showcases voice talent which includes Kristen Schaal, H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, Zach Galifianakis and Kevin Kline. The film was directed by Loren Bouchard & Bernard Derriman. The screenplay is by Loren Bouchard & Nora Smith. The producers are Loren Bouchard, Nora Smith and Janelle Momary.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie will open in U.S. theaters on May 27, 2022.
