Star Hill Ranch welcomes award-winning fine artist Jared Dunten's lastest collection on their first ever gallery opening from on Sunday, July 23 from 12p.m. to 8 p.m.

Fine artist J. Dunten is living proof there are no barriers for the human spirit. In 2000 Dunten was paralyzed in a diving accident in the Rio Grande after a camping trip in the Chisos Mountains (West Texas). Unable to move from the neck down, Dunten began using his mouth to paint in 2002.

What is &
What Might Be:

Images through my life that have guided, haunted and fascinated me. They stretch through past, present and an open unknown future.
-Jared
In 2005 J. Dunten was awarded a student scholarship by the MFPA (Mouth and Foot Painters Association) based in
Picture
Lichtenstein. Dunten has studied with painter Philip Wade and world renowned master painter Edward Povey. While studies are on-going with Povey, Dunten's style, subject and technique continue to evolve.

His works have been on exhibition at the Bass Concert Hall, The One Allen Center, and featured in online and print publications nationally. Patrons across the US collect his artwork. His most recent public pieces can be seen on display at TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston, Texas and at The College of Education on the TCU University campus in Ft. Worth.

With a relentless spirit, Dunten continues to "paint himself out of the wheelchair" advocating research for paralysis from spinal cord injury and he knows he will walk again. Making prints available to everyone, Dunten wants his story to be told and for the belief in a cure for paralysis to be spread.

Now, Dunten lives and works at his studio just outside of Austin, Texas with his wife, 2 sons and a small group committed to seeing his mission through.

    "Live"

    by Jessica G Ferrer
    Think of the painted lady.
Its short lived life is colorful,

    It's bright.
    Unless interrupted, it carries on.
    It flies...

Fulfilling its one and only short lived life. "
