Seven Inspirational Females Of 2019

7/26/2019

There are so many influencers and social media celebrities out there right now who are ruling the interweb with their positivity and power. Did you know there have been studies performed that analyze who we follow and how we are influenced by those we do? These studies can tell us why those we follow influences how we feel about ourselves, which means that we need to follow the right people. We should be filling our newsfeeds with positivity and empowerment, and if you want there to be a real difference, following some bad boss babes is going to help.

For that reason, we've put together a list of seven women you should be paying attention to in 2019.

They are inspirational, unapologetically positive, and the cream of the crop for inspiration.

Simran Randhawa
The creative magazine gal-dem is becoming more and more popular, and Simran is a big part of it. It's made of over 70 non-binary people and women of color who are bossing life. Simran is proudly reclaiming her heritage and encouraging other women to do the very same. She's a big deal and is worthy of your attention and respect, especially in a time where women in India are still being pushed down.

Anya Raza
When it comes to creativity and exploration, you want Anya Raza, the filmmaker. Anya is well known for her exploration of her heritage as a global citizen. She has previously set up several campaigns for supporting Pakistan in times of unrest and is consistently seeking space in the world to better herself. Anya's talent as a filmmaker is just one more reason to follow and be influenced by her.

Megan Crabbe
If you haven't heard of her, you're clearly not supporting the body positive movement as Megan is a leader in this. On a journey to overcome eating disorder demons, Megan strives to normalize women's bodies of all shapes and sizes. Megan works hard to shout to the health professionals and media that they should realize that there is a person with feelings beneath the figure on the outside, and her journey inspires many.
Sonny Turner
Another on the body positive movement train is Sonny Turner. She went viral when she uttered the iconic words: "We need bikini bottoms that don't give us wedgies when we walk!". Women everywhere can relate, we know. She is as real as they come, pushing aside filters and photoshop to show the world what a real human body should look like, and squashing down diet culture as a model with a "real" figure.

Sheryl Sandberg
She was once the #2 person in charge at Facebook, being the driving force of the increase in the Facebook user base by x10. If you can imagine a more inspirational businesswoman in 2019, you'll be hard pushed to find out as dedicated as Sheryl, who now writes books to inspire other women to go out and grab the world by the ....teeth.

Robyn Exton
Given that it's 2019, you'd expect the LGBTQ+ community to be able to live their lives the same way everyone else does. Well, with pink-haired warriors like Robyn, it's happening. We need more women in technology, and Robyn created a lesbian and bisexual dating app, Her. Her expertise is one talent that inspires us, and her pink hair? That's just the icing on the cake.

Elizabeth Farrell
Have you ever heard of Glacier Girl? A very different kind of superhero, Elizabeth is pushing the environmental issue the way that we need people to do so. She is campaigning hard for conversation around climate change, even though some in power don't believe in it. Our digital generation gives us insight to so many things, and yet we remain eyes closed to the whole thing. She's been in the V&A exhibition, "You Say You Want A Revolution?" and she is one for little girls everywhere to watch - never mind us grown-ups!
Women are a hot topic in the world in all sectors right now, and we need to be doing more to empower each other in business, entertainment, environmental issues, and body positivity. The more role models we follow, the more our daughters will have to look up to. We must model our own actions against those who inspire us, and when we do, we can enjoy every moment of their spotlight with them.
