When you’re devoting so much of your time to study, anything that can help you get ahead has got to be a welcome addition to your electronic armory.

You don’t have time to find the resources that will help you out, so we’ve done the math for you and come up with five tried and tested apps that are sure to put you firmly in the lead and make studying less of a chore and more of a pleasure:

Dragon Anywhere
A dictation tool that allows you to speak your thoughts out loud to your phone, which then produces a transcript for you which makes finding that crucial bit of information easier to find later down the line.
Great for creative writers and budding journalists but not free.

MathKey
If you’re looking to convert a math equation from a photo into LaTeX text, then this is the app for you.
Creating maths and science reports becomes a dream as this clever app also converts your handwriting too.

Sleep cycle tracker
You’re going to need this app to keep a track of how much rest and recuperation you’re getting.  Lifestyle gurus everywhere will tell you that if there’s one thing you can do to help yourself reach peak performance, it’s get good quality sleep.
Using your phone’s technology, this app gently wakes you up while you’re in the lightest part of your sleep cycle making it less of a shock to the system.

SimpleMind

This clever little app helps keep all your brainstorming and ideas in one place. It can even draw up Mind Maps and help you to organise your thoughts. This app also allows you to add image to the written text, so if you need reminding about what led to your flash of inspiration a photo from your walk can be uploaded as an aide memoire.

MoviePass
Everyone needs some downtime and as a student you’re probably entitled to cheaper tickets anyway, so make the most of your free evenings and head to the cinema.

Reward yourself with a mid-week treat and snap up two for one offers. You don’t even have to book ahead, just book on the day and you’ll be tucking into popcorn by the evening. With 2-4-1 deals, treat a friend and forget about the books, at least for one evening.

Studying is hard, it can be draining, stressful and frustrating, especially when you feel you’re not organised enough or that things are taking too long. With some of these apps, you’ll be able to plan your study schedule so much better and never forget where your notes are or what inspired that flash of genius in the first place.

The key to good study is finding some balance in your life, so hit the books hard but don’t neglect to take care of yourself. Get enough sleep and exercise and remember to eat well, taking care of your body as well as your mind will set the course for a brilliant future.
