Anxiety is one of the most common mental health conditions and millions of people suffer with it worldwide. There’s no cure as such for anxiety, but there are certain things that people can do to help alleviate their worries and symptoms. Here are 5 natural ways you could reduce anxiety.

  1. Exercise
Exercise is a fantastic way to promote the release of endorphins in the body, which can make you feel good, improving your mood and reducing anxiety. Almost any form of physical activity can help with anxiety symptoms from rock climbing to power walking, skiing through to yoga - there’s a type of exercise out there for everyone. If you haven’t exercised for a long time or have any medical conditions that may stop you from exercising then it’s advisable to speak to a doctor before taking up a new activity,

  2. Kava
Kava (sometimes also referred to as Kava Kava) is a type of root with quite strong sedative properties proven to alleviate not only the symptoms of anxiety but anxious thoughts too. Often taken as a tea, Kava has been used as a natural remedy for stress and anxiety for a long time but due to its potency, it is advised to speak with a doctor before taking it, especially if you are taking any other medications or regularly consume alcohol.

  3. CBD
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a wondrous compound found in the cannabis plant that has been proven to help alleviate anxiety. CBD in itself produced no high effects, that’s it’s sister compound, THC, and so CBD isn’t illegal. CBD is often isolated as an oil and then infused into balms, creams, vape liquid to be ingested, but it is also sometimes put into edibles, you can find these kinds of products on websites such as Cannabismo, just be careful to only purchase the ones with CBD and not THC.

  4. Meditation and mindfulness
It can be very hard for our minds to live in the present and find balance, and with so many thoughts rushing through our heads things can get a bit hectic. This and the fact that we live in such a fast-paced digital age makes it so important to try and practice mindfulness and meditation to help the mind take a break. A good place to start is by downloading a mindfulness or meditation app on your phone which will help guide you through the process until you are able to take yourself into a mindful and meditative state on your own.

  5. Spend time around an emotional support animal
The difference between managable and unmanageable anxiety could be as simple as owning a pet. An emotional support animal can provide help with a number of conditions including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder and provide comfort by simply being present. If you think your pet helps to alleviate your anxiety then you may be able to register them as an emotional support animal which will enable them to be treated as a service dog and accompany you anywhere including on flights, in restaurants and in hotels.
