Packing Essential for an Autumn Getaway

8/20/2018

It’s been a fabulously long and warm summer. Perhaps too warm for some, but certainly a pleasant change after a harsh winter. Now, many of us are looking forward to fall. To cooler temperatures, chunky jumpers and boots, earlier evenings and crunchy leaves underfoot. You might even be starting to think about Halloween or looking at starting lists for the holidays. Fall is a time of great change, the world looks quite different, and there’s always such a lot to plan and prepare. Children and students are starting to think about returning to school. There are decorations to prepare, presents to buy and so many delightful autumn and winter recipes to enjoy. It’s often one of our busiest times.

Fortunately, it’s also the perfect time for a getaway. Temperatures are comfortable, not too hot, nor too cold. Instead, just right for exploring and sightseeing. Vacations are cheaper, and there are some great deals to be had, and we’re all very much in need of a good break. But, with differing temperatures and unpredictable climates, you might need a roof rack from 4WD Supacentre to solve all of your packing problems.

Here are some packing essentials for any autumn getaway.

Light Layers
The key to dressing well in autumn is being prepared for everything. There’ll be days where it starts off bright and fresh, only for rain to hit while you are out exploring. The same day might end with an unexpectedly warm evening. Fall days often feel a little like you are getting all four seasons in the same days. To cope with this, light layers are essential. Vests, long sleeved tops or dresses, thick tights and socks, light jumpers or cardigans and a light jacket might sound like a lot, but it’s all easy to remove and carry in a bag if you need to.
A Waterproof Jacket
After a long and dry summer, rainy days can feel a million miles away. But, they aren’t. We’ll soon start to see more rain, even as the temperature stays mild. So, make sure you either travel in or pack a light waterproof jacket. Depending on where you are traveling, you might not want your big winter coat yet, especially with all of those layers, but a light waterproof is a must if you want to be able to thoroughly enjoy your break without worrying about the weather.

Boots
City breaks are popular in autumn as we all come off the beaches and move away from traditional summer hotspots. This means your shoes are crucial. On the beach, you might stick to flip flops and sandals. For an autumn getaway, you’ll want comfortable and waterproof boots.

Stick to Basics
When it comes to layering up, basics are your friend. Fabulous fall prints are cool, and always look great, so don’t shy away from being bold. But, add basic cardigans and vests. Things that go well with all of your outfits so that you only need to take a few of everything, instead of a different color or print for with every outfit.
