The thing about lipstick, especially an intense red shade is that it can appear greasy, or looks like a child playing dress up if applied incorrectly so then you come across as trying too hard. Red lipstick is often a sign of female dominance, confidence, and power and while these are all fantastic traits for a woman to have you don’t want to scare someone off before they've had the chance to say hello, do you? Stick to cute lip glosses, either in a nude, soft pink or clear shades that’ll add just a hint of shine to your mouth.
While you may think a first, or even second date is the perfect time to show off the flirty new dress, cute unworn top or beautiful gypsy skirt you’d be wrong. Firstly, if the date goes badly your clothes will forever feel tainted, you’ll be annoyed that you splashed out on something new for someone who was clearly wasting your time and be put off buying clothes for dated in future. Secondly, new outfits need to be road tested! You don’t know if that slinky silk skirt has a habit of riding up, or if your brand new cute jumpsuit requires a strapless bra. There’s nothing worse than feeling your shoes pinch while walking to dinner to having to readjust your top every five minutes when trying to get to know someone new.
First dates are supposed to be fun, fresh and exciting so it’s obvious that we all put a little more effort in when looking for romance. Mind you, applying your entire makeup bag when you're normally an eyeliner, lipgloss and eyeshadow palette kind of girl is just asking for trouble. Yes. it’s great to look fantastic but should you guys click you’ll want to meet again, and that means putting twice as much effort in. It’s ok to admit that you don’t usually wear heels, false lashes or have a spray tan because it’s just not your kind of thing. Not even professional telephone clairvoyants will know 100 % if he’s going to like you, but we do know that people tend to respect someone who is true to themselves rather than someone who tries to keep up an act.
If you’re genuinely interested in Native American art, then it’s awesome to wear a dream catcher necklace or feathered earrings. However, avoid wearing something that you know little or nothing about. Prime offenders include band t-shirts because what if they’re actually a massive fan? Unless you know the lyrics to five of their songs, not just the ones they play at the end of Pretty Little Liars episodes occasionally, the names of two albums and who was in the band leave the Nirvana T-shirt at home!
