One of the main things that you want to think about here is making sure that your physical health is being looked after, as that is going to be one of the main things that is going to affect your mental health.

One of the major things that affects mental health is your heart health, so you need to make sure that you are doing whatever you can to look after your heart. That is a simple matter, mostly: making sure that you are getting a good amount of exercise, reducing your alcohol and caffeine consumption, and avoiding smoking are all good things to do there, as well as drinking more water and getting more sleep. The more that you are taking care of your heart, the more that you will be taking care of your mind.

There are many approaches to take which could help you here, but one which is particularly popular at the moment is known as macrobiotics. This is essentially making big changes in nutrition and exercise and so on, as a means of improving your overall health. If you do this, you are going to find that you are having a much better time of it regarding all aspects of your health, and that is something that you can really be happy for.
As well as the heart being an important one to look out for, so are any respiratory problems, as these are related to a number of mental illnesses and diseases which you will want to keep at bay as much as possible. You can help do this by exercising, and by being sure to take care of your lungs - so that means, again, no smoking of anything whatsoever. If you can do that, you are going to find that it is much easier to keep your physical and mental health strong.
Of course, it works both ways, so taking care of your mind is also going to help improve your overall physical health too. If you are keen to try and take better care of your mind, there are many ways to do so. You can work on all the things above, or you can meditate, or get more sleep, or generally try to engage with your thoughts in a more constructive and positive manner. All of this is going to make a difference to how you feel.
