Dealing With Anxiety? Tips And Advice To Help You Cope

We all feel anxious from time to time. Maybe you have exams coming up, a job interview or a driving test. Either way, we’re all familiar with that pounding heart, dry mouth and cold sweat that comes along with feeling nervous. This is a perfectly normal response to a stressful situation. However, a problem occurs when anxiety gets out of control. When we start feeling anxious or panicky for no apparent reason, or when regular everyday occurrences become a source of worry and dread. If this sounds like you then you could be suffering from anxiety. This is an incredibly common mental health problem, and so it’s important to know that you’re not alone.

Because chronic anxiety can hold you back in life and lead to physical health conditions, it’s important to deal with it effectively.

Reach Out For Help

Your first port of call should ideally be your doctor, who will be able to give you more advice. However you could also speak to friends or even call a helpline, just take that first step. From there you can decide on a plan of action, so that your anxiety no longer has to prevent you from doing the things you want to do.

Deal With The Physical Symptoms

As well as spiraling thoughts and panic, anxiety also presents a number of physical symptoms. Knowing how to deal with them is useful. For example, meditation or light exercise can help to steady a racing heart. An over the counter medicine or herbal remedy can help to ease any symptoms of nausea. If your anxiety causes excess sweating, this can be a source of worry within itself. If you’re wondering how to stop sweaty palms, excess body sweating or even facial sweating you’ll be pleased to know there are ways it can be done. Botox injections have been shown to be useful for this, speak to a clinic or your doctor for more information. Dealing with the physical symptoms of anxiety can be helpful and can prevent further stress.

Practice Self Care

This means doing everything you can to improve your wellbeing, which can in turn help to ease your anxiety. It might mean taking a long relaxing bath after a stressful day, treating yourself to a professional massage or indulging in a hobby. Do things you know you enjoy and that calm you down .

Talk It Out

Talking is one of the best forms of therapy, although it doesn’t have to be with a therapist! When you’re feeling anxious or panicky, speaking to a loved one can help you feel so much better. They may help you see things from a new perspective, which can help to ease your worrying. Or just provide you with support and a shoulder to cry on. If you have a good support system around you and people who are there for you, then don’t be afraid to lean on them when you need to.

Are you, or is anyone you know dealing with anxiety? What’s your best advice for anyone currently suffering with it?
